Introduction

Hello Dwell, this is Kenneth.
[1 second pause]
Today is Tuesday, November 12th. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily!
[2 seconds of silence]
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.
[2 seconds of silence]
Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
[5 seconds of silence]
Opening Prayer
(Tuesday)
How can a young person live a pure life? By obeying your word, Father. Teach us today, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways.
[3 seconds of silence]
Passage
Today our passage come from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 15, verse 13:

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Exhortation
A long time ago in a wilderness far, far away there stood a great, and terrible city. A city where all humanity lived. A city where everyone had the same job – building a great tower that would reach up into the heavens. This tower was a monument to the greatness of mankind, it was a pillar of their pride, it was a rallying point of their rebellion against God. They had one language and one mind. But God, was not impressed. This was not what humans were made for. They were made to fill the earth with God’s goodness and glory. They were made in his image and likeness, and the only way they can flourish is to delight in his will and walk in his ways. They were meant to be filled with joy and peace, but instead they abounded in pride and arrogance. Humanity was withering away in their rebellion.
So God confused their languages and scatter humanity all over the earth. This is why there are so many different nations and languages today.
Directly after this event in Genesis 11, God called Abraham in Genesis 12. God told Abraham that through his offspring, God would draw all of the scattered and confused families of the earth back into his presence for blessing. Abraham’s family became known as the Israelites, and then as the Jewish people or Jews, everyone else on earth is called a Gentile in the Bible. Now, during the time of the Old Testament, the gentiles were still scattered and confused, wandering the world apart from God. But Jesus, that true son of Abraham, came and made a way for the Jews and Gentiles to come together in the presence of God for blessing! This is great news!
And one day all of God’s people, people from every nation, tribe, and language will gather together in a great city, but this time it will be God’s city, the Holy City. They will thrive and flourish in his presence forever and ever. This is our hope, and as we eagerly anticipate this beautiful future, we get a tase of it now, in the Church!
In our verse today Paul is talking about a God of hope, a God who is rescuing the scattered nations, a God who is filling his people with joy and peace so that we will be bursting with hope!
Call to Action: Let’s take a few seconds, right now, to marvel at the wondrous deeds of the God of hope! He has called us into his presence and given us a future filled with joy and peace!
[7 seconds of silence]
Closing Prayer
Let’s pray together.
[3 seconds of silence]
Father you are the hope of all peoples. You are the God of our salvation. We marvel at your wondrous deeds of old, and we look forward with an eager expectation, knowing that your future deeds will be even more wonderful than we can imagine! Please, by the power of your Spirit, fill us with joy and peace and let us abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask this in King Jesus’ name. Amen.
