Breakdown
What road has the Lord called you to and who is on it?
Madison
Romans: how are they to belive if they havet heard
The Lord knows your fears.
We are citizens of heaven. Praise God you and i get to live life with jesus. its a life of JOY
26: This road was around 50 miles long
“The contrast between the two stories about Philip is remarkable. The first takes place in Samaria to the north, this one to the south. The first concerns a mass conversion that comes about because of the scattering, this one is a single conversion because of direct messages from God. The first happens among a people who have only the Jewish books of Moses, the second involves someone reading from the prophets.
God can use moments of persecution, he can use 1 on 1 moments, He can use anything to connect His people to Him
27: Was the Eunuch a Jew?

In the ancient world, a eunuch was an official, typically castrated, who served in a royal court (see 2 Kgs 9:30–32; Esth 1:10; 2:3, 14–15, 21; 4:4–5). Eunuchs were often scorned by Jews because they could not perpetuate the covenant family, and the law of Moses excluded men who had damaged genitals from the assembly of Israel (Deut 23:1; Lev 21:17–23), but Isaiah spoke of God’s acceptance of Gentiles and eunuchs (Isa 56:3–8; see also Matt 19:12). In the new covenant, all who have genuine faith have a place among the people of God. • The eunuch had traveled from Africa to Jerusalem to worship in the Temple, probably for one of the great Jewish festivals

WHATS A CANDANCE
Candace kanʹdə-sē, kan-dā-sē [Gk. hē Kandakē] (Acts 8:27); NEB “the Kandake.” The title of the queen-mother of Ethiopia. According to Bion of Soli (Aethiopica 1), the Ethiopians regarded the sun as the father of their kings, and gave the title Candace to the mother. Her treasurer, “a eunuch of great authority,” was baptized by Philip the evangelist on his return from worshiping in Jerusalem.
THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARD BIBLE ENCYCLOPEDIA, REVISED 1, s.v. “Candace.”the work is thriving and going so well, but then God says, please leave and go to this desert place
God cares about all but also the one
You see that Philip left but didn't complain
How many times do we say Lord no this isnt you? No Lord i dont want to leave this comfortable place to go? Lord i dont want to talk about you right now its uncomfortbale? Philip was down to go wherever the Lord had called him
He was on his way away from Jersualem and was reading his bible. God cared about this person. Look at the efforts he took. God cares about the One. He cares about your coworker, friend, stranger. But he also cares about you.
Eunuch: a man of high power and perstige but was seeking answers. Isnt that so true. As we seek the things of the world we see that its meaningless. We see that we need the Lord
Holy Spirit tells him go talk to him. Guys vthis wouldve been scray. The ethipoian eunuch is a celebrity, a man of high power. and phiip is asked to go to him. But Philip doesnt compain. I know we are talking about evangelism which is scray. Its scray to walk up to someone you love and tell them about Jesus. But the Lord goes with you
Deuteronomy 31:8–9 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Then Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.”
We see Moses encouraging Joshua with this Word as Joshua is going to bring Israel into Cannan
David also uses these verse when encouraging Solomon to build the temple
So Philip RAN to him
he didndt walk he RAN
The Lord gave him an open door. The Lord knew he was reading his bible. The Lord knew what was going on in his heart. and the Lord knows what the people you love are going through
30: Do you understand what you are reading?
Side note: never be ashamed to ask for help understanding, NEVER. I remeber when I first started to get into reading my bible i would look around and turn the table of contents really fast to see the page we were on. There is no shame in the table of contents, The Lord had put it there for a reason and the Lord has made people preachers and teachers for a reason.
As belivers we have been put in a community of belivers to help encourage one another
Hebrews 10:24–25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
31: How can I unless someone guides me. This is true. Lets have this posture.
Acts 8:32–33 (ESV)
Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this:
“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter
and like a lamb before its shearer is silent,
so he opens not his mouth.
In his humiliation justice was denied him.
Who can describe his generation?
For his life is taken away from the earth.”
Isaiah 53 (NLT)
OH HOW AMAZING THAT HE WAS READING A PASSAGE THAT TALKED ABOUT JESUS!
34: Hes asking who does this passage talk about? And Philip can say JESUS
35: Philip started with tis scripture and told him about Jesus. The Lord had so perfeclty ligned this moment that He started with this scripture.
All scripture points to Jesus
I think sometimes we look at this book and we think of us as the mian charcter but its comp;etly HIM
Luke 24:27 ESV
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
36-40 This part is celebratory!
THE KJV ADDS THIS: 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.the rejoicing from believing in the good news
a new brother was added into the family
and you know whats great? I think we forget that what we are reading is true. Because when you and i go to heaven you and i will worship alongside this Eunuch that we have read about. You and i will see him with our own eyes and get to praise the father who is the most gracious, Holy and loving!
I want to ask you today, what road has the Lord put you on and who is on it?
MADISON STORY
Romans 10:14–15 ESV
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
How are they to believe if they have not been told?
