Welcome

Glad you all chose to make and could make it.
Intro to the retreat
This retreat is not like other ones that you have been to.
This retreat is here to serve as a true RETREAT.
It is not here for us to have a bunch of messages and worship sets to get us on a spiritual high, that will fade quickly when we get back home. So while their will be fun and laughter had, this is not a standard hype focused retreat or camp experience that some of you may have had in the past.
There is no formal teaching, this is the closest thing to that this whole weekend, and it is very short.
There is no standard band style contemporary worship, we want it to be more personal here.
This retreat is designed to allow all of us to step away from the world that we live in and practice something so vital to our lives as Christians the Spiritual disciplines.
Throughout this weekend we will be learning about and then applying the spiritual disciplines to our lives, in order to grow from it and equip us so that when we do return home we can keep up these disciplines.
We don’t just want to have you know about these disciplines but actually know how to use them in your normal everyday life.
Colossians 3:12–17 (ESV)
Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts , to which indeed you were called in one body. [We called to put this on, we are called to obedience] And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly [Meditation,Study, Memorization], teaching and admonishing [Encouraging and thus fellowship, community, discipleship] one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs[This is worship], with thankfulness in your hearts to God [The cultivated Heart posture of silence and solitude]. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [Service/ministry], giving thanks to God the Father through him.
call to fast from the world this weekend.
Fasting in this world is to radically declare our discontent with this world, not anything that God has done or our circumstances, but that this world does not have enough of God, and us personally does not have enough God. We hunger desperately for God
not merely an act of self deprivation but spiritual discipline seeking more of Gods fullness
