Make the Vision Plain
Make the Vision Plain
The message was to be written down in a plain and clear manner that was easy for everyone to see. This hearkened back to God giving the Law to Israel.
Deuteronomy 27:8 “And you shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.””
The Certainty of the Vision
The Certainty of the Vision
Though the fulfillment of God’s word may seem slow, its coming is certain and sure.
Revelation 21:5 “And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.””
Numbers 23:19 “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”
The Pride of the Wicked
The Pride of the Wicked
In Chapter 1, we saw that the Babylonians were described as proud. In fact, they were so proud that it was said about them that their own might was their God.
The soul of the wicked is described as proud and not upright. They are not right with God.
Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.”
There is a day coming when the proud will be judged and brought low.
Isaiah 2:11–12 “The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;”
If we don’t repent, we will also perish.
See Luke 13:1-5...
The Righteous Shall Live By Faith
The Righteous Shall Live By Faith
The only way for people to be rescued from the coming judgment is by placing their faith in Christ.
Romans 1:16–17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.””
See Galatians 3:10–12...
See Hebrews 10:37-39...
The wicked will not be able to destroy the righteous.
Contrary to Habakkuk’s concerns, the wicked will not swallow up the righteous. But the wicked and death will be swallowed up for the righteous.
Habakkuk 1:13 “You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?”
Isaiah 25:7–9...
John 11:25–26 “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?””
