TRAUMA HEALING CROSS- JAMES MONTROY-
THINKING 2 CHANGE CLASS. Don’t always think like they should
8 Criminal Thinking Errors – 1) I Have all the answers; 2) It’s not my fault; 3) I’M LIVING FOR TODAY ONLY ; 4) deserve Better than This; 5) I’M A GOOD PERSON NO MATTER WHAT I DO; 6) I’M NOT AFRAID OF ANYONE 7 I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL; 8) I JUST DON’T CARE;
As we address these faulty ways of thinking… we want to do more than just change the way people think, to see God change their hearts. We use bible narratives, stories to illustrate the thinking error.
Esau , sold his birthright; why? Hebrews 12 tells us that Esau was an unholy person, selling his birthright did not make him an unholy person. He sold his birthright because he was an unholy person. Unholy person doesn’t care about the things that God cares about. How does a person who is unholy become holy? 1 Corinthians 1;30 Jesus makes us holy.
TESTIMONIES OF RAMON AND LEVI
2 Corinthians 2:12–17 ESV
When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord, my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia. But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
Greg Shiver Testimony-
Give us tell us about your background
in California projects, biracial background, neighborhood poor, gang violence
You started getting into trouble at a pretty young age.
Around 10 or 11 started drug path, selling drugs, stealing jumped into a gang at 13
Grew up in church SS, people played church on Sunday…. Don’t necessarily know if I was saved at 13…or that I had a relationship with Christ…I knew dogma and scripture, memorized a lot of stuff
The next 15 years a prodigal son…and walked away from church and Christ from 13-28 went from bad to worse in gang violence, drugs, Juvenile Detention Center, jails, prisons estranged from patents.
In 2002, you were in the Eau Claire County Jail, picked up a bible
then in 2002 when I picked up the bible committed your life to Christ. I wound up going to prison 5 years…got out…. Next 17 years changed my whole life. mentor, in the church, was living like a Christian should.
What happened after that…
I wound up getting epilisepy death in family daughter autism, started wandering away with all of lifes problems until I got in trouble again in 2022 relasped got into trouble fight with my wife hadn’t been in problem 2002=2022, next thing I know I’m in jail again in the whole for 3 months, in solitary confientment
The Lord grabbed ahold of my heart… Both Tom and I were able to minister to you in the jail. You left the jail 2023 and haven’t turned back.
What has your life looked like since you got out.
I’ve been in church part of a life relaunch program taking freedom in Christ prayers meetings, sober round table revival group, have a mentor
