Introduction
Hello Dwell, this is Kenneth. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily! Today is Tuesday, November 26th.
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.
Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
Opening Prayer
Loving Lord, we delight in your counsel. Today, help our hearts be glad as we receive your words.
Passage
Today our passage is Philippians chapter 4 verse 6: (ICB)
Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks.
Exhortation
Sometimes it is hard to not worry. Sometimes it feels impossible. The world is broken after all. We are broken. And our brokenness can make us blind to God’s blessings in our life. Which in turn causes us to not trust him. This is a dangerous and depressing way to live, and it is definitely not how God wants us to live!
In our passage today, the Apostle Paul gives us powerful weapons as we battle our brokenness – prayer and thanksgiving; a sword and a shield. If you have a need, ask God to help you, but when you come to him, always come bearing thanks. When we maintain an attitude of gratitude, we keep God’s provision and blessing in front of us. When we give thanks to God we are acknowledging his good care for us. We always give thanks, because he is always caring for us. He is always faithful.
Now, when we maintain an attitude of gratitude it will produce great joy in our hearts, and this joy has the power to extinguish worry.
An attitude of gratitude brings great joy.
If you are in a season of joy, then give God thanks. If you are in a season of sorrow or worry, maybe grab a piece of paper and start making a detailed list of everything you are grateful for – staring with the paper and moving out from there.
God loves you more than you can imagine. He wants to fill you with peace that surpasses all understanding.
Call to Action
Take a few seconds, right now, to look around and start naming things you are grateful for. Is it a family member, clothes, a home? God has surrounded you with blessings, start naming them out loud.
Closing Prayer
Let’s pray together.
Father, thank you. You have been so wildly good to us. You have given us food and drink, family and friends, shelter and clothing, and a million other little things that we often forget to thank you for. You have also given us huge blessings, like salvation and hope in your Son, our Savior, Jesus. Please, by the power of your Spirit, help us not grow weary as we wield the weapons of prayer and thanksgiving. We ask this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
Outro
It's been great to be with you today.
Tomorrow, we'll be in 1 Timothy chapter 4. Until then, go in peace, and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
