Session 1 - John 11:1-45
Session 1 - John 11:1-45
Key things to hit on:
The sisters and their grief.
Jesus’ sovereign control.
Do you believe?
Jesus was proving a point that He is the resurrection.
Lazarus was DEAD.
Jesus wept - the word here is a sadness that shows anger. Like when Beckett or Baylor cry and are ticked off at the same time. It’s as if Jesus is demonstrating two things:
(1) Deep compassion for His Friends
(2) Anger at death and the fact that they stil dont know who He is.
“You won’t understand who I really am until I raise the dead. And oh by the way, I’m not even talking about Lazarus. you won’t understand until I lay my own life down and pick it back up again.”
Session 2 - John 11:45-57
Session 2 - John 11:45-57
Key things:
Loose him and let him go.
The religious leaders - they spoke the gospel but didn’t realize it.
The selfish proclamation of Caiaphas was actually a Sovereign prophesy about Christ.
It’s amazing how God can use the wicked as His servants.
There is power in a common enemy.
Jesus retreated to get to where He would eventually go. Ephraim - a place of double fruitfulness.
