Introduction
Hello Dwell, this is Kenneth. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily! Today is Thursday, November 28th.
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.
Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
Opening Prayer
Father, when we spend time in your word and set our hearts on your teaching, we flourish like a lush tree planted by a stream of fresh water. Teach us today and nourish our souls.
Passage
Today our passage is Colossians chapter 2 verses 6-7: (ESV)
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Exhortation
Anyone who is a Christian has received King Jesus as Lord. The news of his kingship has been delivered to us. Sometimes it is delivered by complete strangers, but most often it is delivered by friends and family. How did you first hear about Jesus? Was it your parents, grandparents, or someone else? Whoever it was (and maybe it has been many people) you should be forever grateful that they shared this wonderful news with you. They surely love you very much!
But, just as your received him, now you must walk in him. Anyone can hear the Good News of King Jesus, but receiving the good news means that you will live like he is your king.
In our passage Paul says that as we walk in him, as we live in Jesus’ kingdom, we should be abounding in thanksgiving. Following King Jesus isn’t boring or dull, it is wildly exciting, and it is meant to be enjoyed!
At every turn the Holy Spirit is guiding you, everyday the Father is protecting us and providing for you, Jesus the King of the universe is sitting on his throne interceding for you! And not just you, but for millions of Christians all over the world. You are not alone. Because you have received Jesus, you are no a citizen in a grand, global kingdom, a kingdom that will never fall.
To be in Christ is to be bursting with blessings, and therefore to be in christ is also to be abounding in thanksgiving.
Call to Action
Take a few seconds, right now, to consider the wonder of Jesus’ kingship over our lives.
Closing Prayer
Let’s pray together.
Father, you are good, and we are grateful. As your blessings abound, let us abound in thanksgiving. Guide us by the Spirit as we walk in your ways and delight in your will. We ask this in the name of the High King of heaven and earth, King Jesus. Amen.
Outro
It's been great to be with you today.
Tomorrow, we'll be in Nehemiah chapter 12. Until then, go in peace, and let the word of King Jesus dwell in you richly.
