Good morning church. I wanted to give you a quick update as to what is happening in Michigan. As you can see by my empty book shelf we’re deep in packing mode. We thought this would be very quick and easy process as we’ve only been at this house for six years and don’t think that we buy that much, but the last few weeks have been humbling. It’s shocking what a family of five can collect without trying. That being said, it has been great to rediscover past memories and do a purge everything we have that is truely not important.
As of Tuesday October 1st, I am also officially not an employee of Trane. After 20 years I walked out of the office for the last time. I have known that God has been calling me away from the business world for years, but honestly I have really struggled with the idea of leaving the comfortable / known life that I had. But it was time. It was God’s time. I am confident in this becuase when I walked out that door for the last time, God gave me new perspective on a verse that I’ve read and had memorized for years.
Philippians 4:7 NRSV
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I didn’t know how I would feel walking out that door, but God gave me a deep peace, a peace that I have never had.
Together we are starting a journey at The Light KC to live out the Wesleyan Church’s vision to transform lives, churches, and communities through the hope and holiness of Jesus Christ.
There are lots of unknowns, but I feel a great peace that God has been behind us, is with us, and is already ahead of us paving the way.
I’m excited to see what God does through all of us through our collective obedience.
I’m going to close on my house on October 22nd, be at the church getting my bearings on the 23rd, and can’t wait to be with you Sunday the 27th.
I will keep you all in my prayers and can’t wait to see you all in a few short weeks.
