We all have a special purpose, a call.

The Word of the Lord comes to Elijah

God asks Elijah what he's doing

Elijah tells God all he's done for Him.

Not in

wind

Earthquake .

Fire

BUT A STILL SMALL VOICE

God says to Elijah, “go, return, and anoint”

Hazael, King over Syria

Jehu, King over Israel

Elisha, prophet in your place.

Elijah and Elisha

1 Kings 19:19–21 (ESV)

19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed by him and cast his cloak upon him.

20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, “Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back again, for what have I done to you?”

21 And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

Elisha followed - Elisha went back, slaughtered his oxen, burnt his equipment, gave the meat to the people, then assisted Elijah.

Elisha wasn’t going back.

The anointing gets more powerful when you decide you aren’t going back.

Elisha said, I want better than what Ive had and seen.

Elisha wasn't playing it safe any longer.

We have to make decide.. “You can't get the one while hanging out with the other”

Elisha responded to the call.

Elisha received the Word of the Lord.

Elisha burned twelve yoke of oxen 24 oxen

Elisha went back and said

Elisha loved Elijah.

He woudn’t leave Elijah. You are headed toward something.

I recognize God in Elijah. Elijah was just a nobody from nowhere.

2 Kings 2:2, 4, 6 “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.”

Elisha went after Elijah and assisted Elijah.

The Lord placed a great man in His life so he could be even better than what he would be alone!
