32 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
crowd muttering - essentially saying this is the messiah. John 7:31 “31 Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, “When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?””
He was in Jerusalem, making a ruckus. They wanted this problem taken care of.
33 Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.
I will be with you a little longer- a few more months.
him who sent me - The Father. He is saying He is going back to heaven. Which is where he is today.
be with you - Remember, this is the feast of the tabernacles. One of the things they are celebrating is that God, would come down and dwell with them. Like in the winderness with the fire adn cloud. Little did they know he was with them in bodily form.
34 You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.”
You will seek me …not find me - He is good at hide and go seek. He is in heaven we can’t see him.
You cannot come - meaning being alive and see.
35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we will not find him? Does he intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks?
Dispersion - those Jews who were dispersed out of the promise land.
teach the Greeks - He has already done miracles in Greek land. Namely feeding the 5k. So now they are thinking that he going to be a sell out.
ILLUSTRATION - haha, like if I said I was about to leave and you were like. It’s Canada isn;t it. Stupid Manitoba.
36 What does he mean by saying, ‘You will seek me and you will not find me,’ and, ‘Where I am you cannot come’?”
They have no clue. They should have. Later, he is going to say it more directly by saying: I am going to my Father’s house.

37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
Last day of the feast, the great day - What feast? Tabernacles. This was the most celeborary of all the feast. They celebrated that God brought them out the winderness. They also celebrated that God was going to come down and live with them in the millenial kingdom. So every day was big celebration. The last day was the biggest though.
ILLUSTARTION: Like that week between Christmas and New Years. You forget what day it is, you only eat cookies, then one last big celebration on new year’s eve.
Each day they would do several celebrations but that last day was the big day. It was water liberation ceremony.
They took verses referring to the millenial kingdom, which is Christ’s kingdom at the end of the time and saw this:
Isaiah 12:3 “3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”
So each day, but ecspecially on the last day the priest would get a gold jar go down to the main well, the pool of siloam. Get water, bring back the water to the temple and pour it out. As a thank you. Why? Becuase God has provided life and salvation.
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.
So while all that was happening -
Jesus stood up and cried out - literally yells out
if anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink! -
The closest scene that I could think of would be if in the middle of a fireworks show on July 4th, the music playing, the fireworks going off. Then someone stands up and starts screaming - If you want real freedom follow me. (maybe make funnier)
Where does he get off. We would be a little annoyed. (christmas parade, rap music boat)
Isaiah 12:3 “3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”
Wells of Jesus - same root word. It was there the whole time. Salvation is from Jesus. His name means God saves!
There is somethnig better from JEsus. A better type of water and salvation.
John 7:38 “38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ””
Whoever blieves in me - So how do we get this salvation? By believing in him.
Scriputre has said - ????? Ezk 47:1-2
His heart will flow rivers of living water - This in reference to the temple, but Jesus says it actually me.
39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Here is the aweomse part - when we get Jesus, we get Spirit and the water flows out of us.
VISUAL ILLUSTRATION - life sucker vs life giver
CONCLUSION - hospital?
