Have you ever felt like your life is heading in the wrong direction?
You wonder why things aren't falling into place, why you keep facing roadblocks, or why you feel unsettled.
Maybe you’ve even asked yourself, Is my life going off course?
Why is it so hard to trust God when life gets tough? I’m sure many of us have asked ourselves this question.
Whether it’s in moments of deep pain, when the future seems uncertain, or when we feel overwhelmed by the weight of our problems, trusting God can feel like the hardest thing to do.
But why?
It’s because, as humans, we crave control.
We want to understand what’s going on and fix things with our own strength.
But when life takes an unexpected turn and we lose control, fear sets in.
We wonder if God is still with us, if He hears our cries, or if He’s forgotten us.
Sometimes, our impatience makes it even harder. We pray for solutions, but when they don’t come on our timeline, doubt creeps in.
We start to question if God is really working behind the scenes or if we’re just on our own.
And let’s be honest, in those moments of deep pain or suffering, it can be difficult to understand why a loving God would allow us to go through such hardship.
My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you.
Following God’s word will bring peace to you life!
God’s word is a light unto your feet…
It is a lamb unto my path…
God uses situations of life to reveal who he is to us.
Our faith becomes a lens to see God!
The key is “Trust”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
Trust: to believe (trust) v. — to have faith; put one’s trust in something.
Don’t get it twisted Everyone does trust something.
The question is, what is the something?
People may put their trust in:
Money and wealth
Career
Job security
Relationships (family, friends, romantic partners)
Education and knowledge
Government or political systems
Material possessions
Social status or reputation
But the proverbs tells us to “Trust in the Lord”
Lord: Yahweh
The name "Yahweh" can be understood as "He who causes to be" or "He who brings into existence."
I have to trust that God is….
He who causes to be….
He who brings into existence
“He Who”
I have to trust God with “All” my Heart
Heart (internal feature) n. — the locus of a person’s thoughts (mind), volition, emotions, and knowledge of right from wrong (conscience) understood as the heart
My Mind / Body / Soul
“Trusting” has a look (Example)
“Do not lean on your own understanding”
Do not! - This is a command to live by….
Lean: to depend on rely v. — to put trust in with confidence.
“Leaning” has a look (Example)
understanding (capacity) n. — the capacity for rational thought or inference or discrimination.
Inference: a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
When I trust in my own ability… It leads me to destruction.
I develop my own conclusion…
I try to do it my own way…
I rather rely on “me” than God…
I rather be in control…
But I am tired…
I can’t do any longer…
I give up…
