Who became believers at Iconium? Why? (v. 1)
What is the significance that both Jews and Greeks are being saved?
Romans 1:16 NKJV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
How did unbelievers oppose what Paul and Barnabas were doing? (v. 2)
What does this verse teach us concerning how not to act.
We should not run around, spreading division amongst people. This type of action is always in reference to those who oppose God.
How did the apostles respond to the opposition? (v. 3)
The preached. Noone can compete with the truth of God. It is that truth that compels one to be better. Speaking the truths of God brings conviction and peace, joy and shame.
What did the Lord enable them to do? (v. 3)
God bore witness through them by granting signs and wonders.
God will always provide for His people.
How was the city divided? (v. 4)
This tells us that this event became the main topic around town. Everyone was talking about this. It completely consumed the entirety of the town.
What did certain people plot against the apostles? (v. 5)
The rulers were even on board with this. Why would they get involved?
When Paul and Barnabas discovered the plot against them, what did they do? (v. 6)
They fled. When should we flee the persecution against us and when should we stay and fight?
What happens when a congregation divides its loyalties among leaders?
It causes division amongst the people. It plots people against one another, people that should be united. It takes the focus off of Christ, which is what allows unity to happen in the first place.
