v1-3

v1: they had been in Elim for several weeks. Remember what Elim was. It was a place of rest for them. This is the place that Go had lead them to provide water for them, when they complained to Him about this.
At the heart of the Israelites was a heart that was always dissatisfied.
Know about 6 weeks later after they had left Egypt they are back on their journey to the Promise land that God had told they would be a land of milk and honey.
And again look at how quickly they forget all that God has done for them so far.
v2
They people start to grumble again.
Ill: there are time s for all of us that we have had one or two people grumble about something we have or haven’t done. Think of your kids in the back seat complaining about how lone the trip is or that they dont want to go get lunch at dinner at a certain plan, we can barely handle that, think about Moses, he was 2 million peon that are complaining.
The word grumble means: to be in active rebellion.
This word is used 7 times in this one passage.
v3
The people say to Moses that it was better back in Egypt. They say that life was better in slavery.
How true is this for us that when life isn’t going they way that we hope, dream or desire that Satan makes us think that life before Christ was so much better and that we were better off back then.

v4-12

v4-5
Here in the very first few words of the verses we get to see the heart of God again.
We see again that God continues to listen to the cries of His people.
This is promising to me because so often when life isn’t going the way i want and I am complaining that God is still listening to me.
And in their complaint God hears them and makes a promise again to them that He will provide for them.
v6-12
God now says that he say heard their cry and that he will provide for them but there is a reason the he will provide for them.
Its not about them but its about Himself. He is god to display his glory yet again to Him.
The idea of glory in this passage has to do with God showing them again his character.

v13-21

v13
now we see that the Lord provides for them exactly how He promised they he would.
v16-18
How true is this for us. That God gives us exactly what we need and when we need it and exactly how much we need. God never gives us to much or to little.
Remember how he thought us to pray:
“Give us this day our daily bread…”
Remember the proverb:
Proverbs 30:8–9 ESV
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, 9 lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.
“Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.”

v22-36

Sabbath day
For forty years, God gave them exactly what they needed, and in Hebrews, it says that this omer or this jar that they saved was placed in the ark of the Lord, and I believe it was to serve as a reminder that God will always provide for his people.
Application:
John
v1-15:
Recap the feeding of the 5000
v22-59
v26
Jesus confronts them about searching for Him to receive more bread, they are looking for the physical needs to be meet and have little to no desire for spiritual healing.
v31
The people bring up how the Lord have provided for the fathers needs with manna in the wilderness and Jesus again addresses that they still dont undetand.
v41
We see that the people grumble, its the same word in exodus, there is a rebellion against God and the way that God works.
v48
Jesus say to them that he is the bread of life. That he is the one that give eternal life.
Have you tasted the bread of life that Christ offers?
Benediction:
Deuteronomy 31:8 ESV
8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
