Luke introduces his readers again to Peter and a man by the name of Aeneas who had been healed by Jesus after being paralyzed for 8 years. Luke doesn’t give much information about Aeneas. The text has caused scholars to be split on whether Aeneas was a believer on a unbeliever. It is a good possibility that since Luke doesn’t say that Aeneas was converted after his healing that he may have been a believer.
In v.33 we are told that Aeneas’ condition for 8 years has left him unable to stand and walk, any hope of doctors to heal him, he was left in a hopeless situation. But there is always hope in Jesus Christ. I don’t care how long you have been dealing with what you have been dealing with Jesus can turn things around for you. Maybe you’ve have found yourself in what seems to be a hopeless situation. Let me submit to you that there’s always hope in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ can make a way out no way. There is nothing to hard for our Lord. He can make the impossible possible.
I want you to notice something in v.34. When Peter sees Aeneas he tells him “Jesus the Christ heals you.”
Peter didn’t personally know Aeneas. And we don’t know if Aeneas had asked to be healed. What is important is that Aeneas was known by Jesus the Christ and He cared enough to heal him and turn his life around.
And what is important for you to know today is that while others may not know the depths of what you are going through whether it is fear, doubts, or illness, I want you to be comforted in knowing that Jesus knows what you are dealing with and He also knows what you are in need of and He can turn things around for you.
Again, look at the text. Peter says to Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Not I Peter, heals you, but Jesus the Christ (Messiah) is the one who heals you. Peter knows that the power of healing belong strictly to Jesus. Unlike faith healers today who say “I command you to be healed or to walk.” Their emphasis is always on themselves. The power to heal belong to the Lord.
Then Peter says, “Arise and make your bed.” He challenged Aeneas to believe he could do what he couldn’t do for 8 years and that was to Arise and make his bed. And Aeneas believed that he was healed and arose immediately. Jesus turned his condition around.
Aeneas was told to Arise and make his bed even those doctors had not given him any hope of standing and taking up his bed. But he believed he was healed and arose immediately. Jesus turned his condition around.
You might be having a difficult time on your job, threats of being let go, you might be under pressure to perform, or overwhelm and under paid, I want you to believe and rise up from your anxiety and believe that Jesus can turn things around for you.
There maybe someone here today who is being challenged to believe over against what the doctors has told. It is time for you to believe in the power of Jesus to turn things around for you and rise up out of your doubts, and rise up out of your fears and believe that Jesus can turn things around.
Hebrews 13:8“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
The same Jesus that healed Aeneas is the same Jesus who is available to heal today according to His will. Jesus can turn things around for you if you have belief in Him.
The enemy wants you to doubt that your prayers will be answered. Let me warn you that doubt delays prayers being answered. But faith believes prayer will be answered.
Not only did Jesus turn things around for Aeneas. He also turned things around for others who saw what happened to him.
Acts 9:35 “So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.”
Aeneas was a walking testimony that Jesus can turn things around. God will use your circumstance to draw others to Jesus Christ. Aeneas got up and told others what Jesus did for him. And a great number of people’s lives were turned around, by turning to Jesus Christ.
If Jesus chooses to heal you need to give hope to others that Jesus if it is his will he can turn things around.
If Jesus has healed you from sin you need to tell everybody to confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Jesus didn’t save you to sit, but he saved you to be a witness about him.
Healing miracles don’t often happen, but they can according to the God’s will. But the miracle of salvation will happen if you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus to turn your life around.
