Introduction

Who in here has ever gone through something that has drained them emotionally, physically and mentally. about everyone in here. would that experience have been easier if someone was by your side helping you. This morning we are going to look at two short passages and discuses exactly what it means to help someone carry a burden that someone is carrying.
In the book of Galatians where we will start Paul is writing to the church of Galatians that have been lead astray by false teachers called Judizers. These Judiazers are teaching a false gospel that is teaching the church of Galatia that in order to be saved they also had to follow Christ AND follow the law of Moses. This false teaching caused Paul some concern and he penned this letter. we will look at Galatians 6:1-2 this morning.
so looking at verse 1 Paul tells the church that if anyone is caught in transgression then it is those who are spirituals responsibility to restore him. If you see a brother and sister in Christ doing something that they should not be doing you are responsible to restore them to Christ. but you do not guilt them or condemn them. instead with gentleness you are to restore them. Paul also states that you must be careful unless you be tempted yourself. If you are going to be tempted with the same sin that your fellow Christian is struggling with then you must take care of yourself first.
So if you are not tempted by what your brother or sister in Christ Paul tells us in verse 2 we are to carry one another burdens. the reason is so we can fulfill the law of Christ. Jesus summarized the entire law of Moses in 2 stamens Love the Lord with all your heart mind soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. when we help someone when they are struggling we are fulfilling the law of Christ.
God made us to be social creatures. God knew that we could not handle certain things alone. that is why Paul tells us to carry one another burdens we also see in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor; 10 for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up!” and Solomon tells us in Proverbs 27:17 that iron sharpens iron so one person sharpens another. we need others to help us and we need to help other people. One of the best illustrations i have seen from a movie is in Lord of the Rings Return of the King one character is carrying a heavy burden that he can not bear anymore. it is so heavy he falls unable to move but his friend comes beside him and tells him “I can’t carry your burden for you but I can carry you” and he picks up his friend and carry him up the mountain where they were trying to go. be there to help people and help them carry their burdens even if you have to carry them a little bit.
