Inner man transformation through God’s Word is necessary to accomplish commitment. 36-39 3. We must desire to live based on God’s Word. 40 YOUR INNER MAN TRANSFORMATION TO FOLLOW GOD’S TRUTH IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH GOD’S WORD. IMPLICATIONS 1. The process of sanctification happens in conjunction with the Word of God. Failure to know, understand, and value the Word will result in falling away from God. 2. The Word of God is key to sanctification. Sanctification is a process in which I respond to God’s working in my inner man through the Word of God. IMPLICATIONS 3. Inner man transformation is only possible as I allow the Word of God to change my desires, direction, devotion and determinations (beliefs). I conform to the Word—the Word doesn’t conform to me. My desires, direction, devotion, and determinations must be shaped/transformed by the Word of God. IMPLICATIONS 4. I must recognize how often my heart desires pull me away from the Word. Anytime I believe that the Word is not sufficient for my inner man struggles I am buying into the lie that there is another way that is better. APPLICATION 1. Every time you go to the Word whether privately or corporately, ask God to use the Word to expose the realities of your heart that you may conform to the truth of the Word of God. 2. Make a list of relationships, objects, endeavors, or goals that are actually distracting you from following after the Word—determine what you will change with these. APPLICATION 3. I need to identify the areas of my life that I actually don’t want to be conformed to the Word of God. Ask yourself what does this expose in your heart? 4. Answer the question, “Do I actually believe the Word of God is vital to my spiritual growth and inner man transformation?”. Do my life choices support that answer? ALLOW GOD TO SHAPE YOUR INNER MAN THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD.
