Calling, Conduct, and Commission
Lets think on these three words as we close out our Study of John
what a journey of 18 month
as with ALL Great Journey

But hopefully you have added to your notes
or highlighted KEY verses
so that you will be changed
Last week I shared with you TWO Simple Words
BELIEVE and FOLLOW
I have a habit developed many many years ago to try to learn
the lesson
was to become a
RENAISSANCE Man
The mission that was laid out to me
was to know and experience
as much as i could in life
SO THAT I could share and connect with Others
I strive for something that is often called
in other cultures the EMPTY MIND
It is a state of allowing Space in your mind to absorb information and file it away
Mushin ( Empty Mind)
It’s not about emptiness in a literal sense, but a mind free from cluttered thoughts and emotions, allowing pure action
This is the state that allows us to understand and grow
When we study our Bibles or mediate on our Sunday message during the week
We should empty our minds of the things of this world
Often achieved by making a todo list for the day
your mind can find peace because it is recorded
and you can focus on the task at hand
You are able to focus on the things of God, and hear the Spirit in You.
You are here today
because you have been CALLED
Jesus came to you and said a version of what He said to the first disciples
Come and Follow me
You decided to leave your OLD life
and FOLLOW
You would not have Followed if you didn’t Believe
Would you??
These are the first lessons from John

The Middle Chapters of John
are full of Advice, Actions, and Attributes of Jesus and a True Disciple
From Miracles of Water into Wine
to healing of the Blind
Jesus walking on water
raising a dead man
We heard teachings on a Woman at the Well,
Feeding of the Five Thousand
the Instructions on Prayer
The Seven I Am Statements
the bread of life (6:35),
the light of the world (8:12),
the door (10:7),
the good shepherd (10:11, 14),
the resurrection and the life (11:25),
the way the truth and the life (14:6) and
the true vine (15:1)
Jesus wants us to UNDERSTAND --- WHO HE IS
He IS
I AM
Jesus is God
one of the very missions of the Apostle John
To show us the Divinity of Jesus.
Jesus and God are ONE
He taught us conduct required of a Disciple
To FOLLOW --- to obey
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
We learned that our Conduct is rooted
in our Character
and our Character is based in CHRIST
We exist to Glorify God, by Growing Others
COMMISSION
COMMISSION
All of these teaching are a GIFT
I pray that you see that
the last 18 months of Study in John
was a true gift
and a gift with a purpose
who we are
who we are to be
How we are to be
who’s we are
and what we are to become
just a very few of the GIFTS
of Clarity in our Christ Walk.
Friends
we are NOT TO CLOSE this CHAPTER
and Move on
We are going to hear the next two Weeks --- two teachings on Discipleship
Growing your Self so that you can GROW others
Listen again to our CALL, CONDUCT, and COMMISSION
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
well OKAY
so we are to GO
GO WHERE?
We have taught this before it means more like
AS YOU GO
But again AS I GO WHERE
We really don’t need to over think this.
AS WE FOLLOW JESUS
AS WE WALK WITH HIM
and Meet People along the Way
We GLORIFY GOD with our FOLLOWING
With our OBEDIENCE
As we go we HELP TO MAKE DISCIPLES
it is said that a VILLAGE RAISES A CHILD
and it is very TRUE
your child and YOU by the way
are shaped by the things of LIFE
You decision is what are you ALLOWING TO SHAPE you
is your EMPTY MIND focused on Football, your kids, your career
Or are you FOCUSED ON GOD?
are you living out this verse
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Where is your FOCUS?
We saw so many examples of PHARISEES, PEOPLE, and even the DISCIPLES
Focused on the wrong thing
YET JESUS never LEFT THEM
JESUS always LOVED THEM
What is our mission
to BELIEVE and FOLLOW in INCREASING MEASURE
TO GROW OURSELVES AND OTHERS
You are NEVER ALONE
You have the church of people around you
You have the SPIRIT of GOD inside you
and the POWER OF GOD all around you.
You are Given the Armour of GOD to PUT ON
CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
The BOOK OF JOHN
should have CONNECTED and CHANGED YOU
I pray that is TRUE
We can see the FINISH LINE clearer
We can FOCUS on OTHERS as we GO
We have a MISSION to MAKE DISCIPLES
WHO are we to GO TO
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
ALL who BELIEVE
We have a GOAL to get them BAPTIZED in the Name of the FATHER< SON AND HOLY SPIRIT
TEACHING OTHERS the Ways of CONDUCT — THE WAYS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
and we LIVE in the PROMISE at the END OF THE COMMISSION
Matthew 28:20 (ESV)
20...And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus will never leave you or Forsake you
and we can FULLY TRUST IN THAT PROMISE
Friends
Believe and FOLLOW
The Barrier has been REMOVED --- We can FEED HIS SHEEP
We can CARRY THE CROSS to OTHERS --- We can TEND HIS SHEEP
We are PARTNERED WITH CHRIST THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT
We know the DESTINATION — FOR JESUS HAS PREPARED A PLACE FOR US
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
