Intro:
Affirmation of identity. This is my beloved son.
Led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tested. Matthew 4:1–2 “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.”
Healing: Matthew 4:23 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”
Deliverance: Matthew 4:24 “Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.”
Preaching and Kingdom Revelation: Matthew 5-7. (beatitudes-parables)
Process of Discipleship: Matthew 8:18–22 “And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.””
Acts of Compassion: Matthew 9:35–37 “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”
The Apostles are commissioned Matthew 10:1 “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.” Matthew 10:7–8 “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
Today we continue in our series on the Gifts of the Spirit. So far we have looked at the
Word of Wisdom which is a revelation of divine counsel. It gives Supernatural insight into some particular need or problem, and brings practical application of God’s Word. Word of Knowledge which is not not natural knowledge based on your own understanding or studying. Also it doesn't come by experience or expertise in a Situation. The Gift of Faith is a miraculous faith that meets unusual opportunities. (Unshakeable Faith)
Gift of Healing:
Today we will look at the gift of Healing. As we look at this I want to lay a framework for the demonstration of the Gift.
Submit:
Turn with me to Mark 16:15-18. Here we will see a passage that is called the great Commission. Lets separate this into two areas, Commission & Signs.
-Commission: An Instruction, Command, or Duty, given to a person or a group of people.
The Primary thing we must understand this morning is that we are called to Go!
We are to GO and release the Kingdom of Heaven into the Earth.
Q. What is a Kingdom? A Kingdom is the Kings Domain. It is a place where he has Supreme authority, his Word is carried out, and the people under his rule are submitted to him.
Jesus Came to Reveal the Father and his Kingdom. The reference to the Kingdom of God/Kingdom of Heaven is seen
24 times in Matthew 14 times in Mark 32 times in Luke 2 times in John 6 times in Acts 1 time in Revelation
God gave a Commission for Revelation of the Kingdom of God. Q. Why? Through the Fall of man in the Garden of Eden, and as a result of Adam’s decision. Sin and Death entered into the world and was given power (authority) over man, creation, and the earth. Adams Assignment was to have dominion (authority) over all the earth. He gave that authority to Lucifer when he obeyed his word to eat the fruit. Luke 4:5-6, “Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.”
So what we end up seeing played out after Genesis 3 through Revelation 20 is the Result of and Answer to the devil having being given authority by Adam.
-Signs:
So in the grand scheme of the Word and redemption what is the Purpose of the Gift of healing?
Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will last out demons,; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.
It is for the revelation of the Kingdom of God and the Nature of God. It was a return of what was lost in the Garden (Authority and Dominion).
Q. Lets think about Signs for a minute in the natural. What are Signs for? They point to something. We have one out front to let people know that we are a Church. It is a Display to show what you should find inside. Same for restaurants, gas stations, etc. the Sign gives you an idea about what that place offers. Let’s take the sign for Chili’s Restaurant. You may not know everything they have inside on the menu, but you know the Sign outside is an inThe Sign is the initial indicator that their is food inside.
Likewise when we think about Signs and the Nature of the Kingdom of God they reveal (show) what to expect about the Kings Dominion. The sign (Gift of Healilng) and power points us toward the King who has the power to change my physical condition. It is seed sown that causes Questions to arise…Why would God heal me? It reveals his Love for me.

In this Video we see the Gift of Healing in Action. Also the Gift of Faith.
Does it look like the Guy in the Video is Normal?
Remember we are called to Go. The Signs following them that believe.
What we also must remember is that the Holy Spirit is in us, and as we go he moves through us to touch others. It’s not trying to get this external force to connect with me so that someone can be healed. In Romans 8:11, the Word reminds us that the same spirit (Holy Spirit) who raised Christ from the dead lives in us.
Matthew 10:7-8, “And as you go preach saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” Freely Receiving is evidence of the Gift given.
What is most important is that we realize that we have no power in ourselves to heal anyone. It is through the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
As we read that Jesus was anointed with Power what happened first to Jesus? After he was baptized by John the Baptist In Matthew 3:16 “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and rested upon Him.” We see the continuation of this same principle in Acts 1:8 with the apostles. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Not only are we Commissioned to go, but we are Commissioned to go in the Power of the Spirit. With The gifts of the Spirit in operation so that through the Demonstration of the Spirit confirmed by Signs mankind will be reconciled back to God.
Conclusion:
Is their anyone here this morning that has physical pain in their body? Would you come to the front with me.
What I want you to understand this Morning is that healing only comes through the Spirit. Many times the battle that comes at this moment is what if it doesn't work. My job is to be faithful to what God speaks, the Spirit is the one who heals. As the Spirit does the work God should get the Glory.
We see miracles and healing throughout the Gospels, and the Book of Acts. The book of Acts has 28 chapters but no ending. Why? John 14:12, “For I Tell you the Truth, he that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do because I Go to the father.”
It has no ending because the Acts are intended to continue. We are still called to Go into all the world, and bring a demonstration of the Kingdom so that mankind will know that the God of heaven loves them, and so that he might reconcile the lost to himself.
Pray: That God would give us understanding!
