Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and to confess Him as Lord, and on confession of this faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another as one body in Christ, to lead lives worthy of the Lord and fully pleasing to Him. By the Holy Spirit’s aid and power, church members shall:
1. Pray Faithfully:
1. Pray Faithfully:
We commit to praying regularly for the church’s spiritual growth, for each other, for our pastors and ministry staff, and for the advancement of God’s Kingdom
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
17 pray continually,
2. Participate and Attend:
2. Participate and Attend:
We promise to regularly attend worship services, participate in the ordinances, be involved in church ministries, and support church business meetings. If we move from this place, we commit to uniting with another local church as soon as possible to continue carrying out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word (Hebrews 10:25
25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
3. Promote Unity and Christian Love:
3. Promote Unity and Christian Love:
We commit to walking together in Christian love, seeking unity, and offering encouragement. We will give and receive admonition with meekness and always be ready for reconciliation
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.
4. Live According to God’s Word:
4. Live According to God’s Word:
We promise to forsake sinful ways, walk in righteousness, and faithfully apply God’s Word to our daily lives. We will maintain a vibrant relationship with God through prayer and time in His Word
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
5. Use Our Gifts to Serve:
5. Use Our Gifts to Serve:
We commit to using our spiritual gifts to serve within the Body of Christ and to support the ministries of the church
10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
6. Give Generously and Steward Well:
6. Give Generously and Steward Well:
We promise to be faithful stewards of our time, talents, and finances, giving tithes and offerings to support the church and its mission to fulfill the Great Commission
7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
7. Teach and Evangelize:
7. Teach and Evangelize:
We commit to faithfully teaching the Bible to our children and seeking the salvation of family, friends, and others through our witness
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
8. Support Church Leadership and Maintain Doctrinal Integrity:
8. Support Church Leadership and Maintain Doctrinal Integrity:
We promise to honor, esteem, and pray for our pastors and leaders, supporting them as they exercise their spiritual offices. We will refrain from promoting any doctrinal interpretation that contradicts the church’s Statement of Faith, maintaining unity in doctrine
17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
9. Live with Integrity and Holiness:
9. Live with Integrity and Holiness:
We promise to be trustworthy and just in our dealings, avoiding unkind words and unrighteous anger. We will honor God by living holy lives and avoiding actions that defile the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
10. Care for One Another:
10. Care for One Another:
We commit to caring for each other, helping in sickness and distress, and being compassionate in our feelings and speech, showing Christian love in all situations
2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
