2 Thessalonians 1:11–12 ESV

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Big Idea: to this end we pray for those in trial.

1) Sanctification:

God may make you worthy of your calling

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, bqaecause God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. 2) Good Works

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,

Fullfill = fully filled.

Fulfilled = to carry out.

Complete goodness.

We need God to do this.

Our intentions in the flesh are not always to accomplish true good but whatever we determine to be good for us.

Consumed with Good

Good works = ultimate good is not left in your head

Labor of love

Transition: may we pray that God alters our desires to do ultimate good!

I am convinced now more than ever God is doing things and we are reluctant to give him credit.
