Thankful for my sister!
Theres two major things that characterized the prophet Jeremiah. 1 He was lonely 2 He was broken.
I think the character of the prophet revealed the heart of God at that time.
I believe God raises men up to convey His heart to His people.
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”
When a tree is rooted up what happens to the tree it dies.
Jeremiah had a two fold ministry. He would announce messages of judgement “To root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down.” And messages of encouragement “to build and to plant.”
This is Gods ministry to all of us. God typically has to destroy erroneous beliefs and practices before reconstruction can take place.
A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up;
Solomon is not advocating war but is asserting that war is inevitable! That there will be a time to kill. Solomons a realest!
Disruption will happen in this life.
Breaking down and uprooting will happen.
These things reveal who you really are.
Someone once said you don’t know who you really are into you’ve been interrupted.
Someone cut you off in traffic. - your response to that is who you really are.
You start a business but it doesn’t work out, your response to that is who you really are.
The uprooting reveals the hearts intent. And removes the vail from ones eyes.
But also Solomon said life will happen as well. A time to be born- in the hebrews it reads a time to give birth, and a time to plant which is life as well.
God has to work things out of your life before He can work things in.
A new building cannot be constructed until the old structure it will replace has been demolished
Jesus even said
Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
Destroy - To loose, loosen what is fast, bound, meaning to unbind, untie.
Jesus is The Only one who has the power to destroy and raise up again.
We probably can destroy somethings but the ability to raise up is a supernatural work.
The destroying is twice as hard then the raising up.
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”
Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
The Hebrew word for “almond tree” means“to watch or to wake”. The almond tree was named the “awake tree” because in Palestine it is the first tree in the year to bud and bear fruit. Its blooms precede its leaves, as the tree bursts into blossom in late January.
God used play on words, God is saying that He is awake and watching to make sure His word will come to pass.
God is awake and watching.
Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
God wouldn’t let a silent thief to still His word.
