Isaiah 25
Background Daniel 6:10-28
In Isaiah 25, the prophet speaks about the future salvation and restoration of God's people. The chapter begins with a hymn of praise to God for His faithfulness and power. Isaiah praises God for His plans and promises to save His people and defeat their enemies.
Known as “Isaiah’s apocalypse,” chapters 24–27 describe the earth’s devastation and people’s intense suffering during the coming Tribulation and the blessings to follow in the millennial kingdom.
The chapter also includes a poetic description of a great banquet that the Lord will prepare for all nations on His holy mountain. This banquet symbolizes the ultimate victory and restoration that God will bring about for His people.
Overall, Isaiah 25 underscores the themes of God's sovereignty, salvation, and victory over evil, offering hope and encouragement to the people of Israel and to all who trust in the Lord.
When teaching Isaiah 25 in Sunday school, you can focus on the following key points:
1. **Praise and Thanksgiving:** Start by discussing the importance of praising God for His faithfulness and power. Encourage the students to reflect on ways in which they can give thanks to God for His blessings in their lives.
(1) Praise to the Lord for the coming kingdom
(verse25:1-5 )
When the Lord will establish His kingdom on the earth, a reversal of fortunes will occur (Isa. 25:4–5). The poor (dal, “feeble, weak, helpless”) and the needy (’eḇyôn, “oppressed”) will be rescued and the ruthless will be stilled
(2) Effects of the coming kingdom (25:6–12). The deliverance that the Lord will bring will include the wiping away of death (vv. 6–8), the rejoicing of His people (v. 9), and judgment on His enemies (vv. 10–12).
Important to praise God and be Thankful-- Show Thankfulness
Ephesians 5:19-20 - "Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Psalm 150:6 - "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord."
Psalm 100:4 - "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name."
Hebrews 13:15 - "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Who is God to You?
Has he been Faithful
How do you give thanks to God for His blessing in your life?
Thankful for Closed doors, detours and roadblocks.
They protect you from paths and places not meant for you.
They can close the door...
But when it is God’s will for you. He will simply remove the ceiling.
Sometimes God takes you on a journey you didn’t know you needed, to bring you everything you wanted
If God removed someone from your life and its painful, trust that letting them stay would have hurt even more.
Thank you because you God know what you can’t see. I praise you for your All-knowing power.
Because the truth is you didn’t realize that it was your love that made them seem so special.
You give God Glory in your actions Because:
Instead of “ I don’t know how this is going to work.
Try, “ I can’t wait to see how God works this thang out”
(And we know all things work together for good for those who love God....)
We praise God what he has done
We worship him for who he is.

2. **God's Promises:** Explore the promises of salvation and victory found in Isaiah 25. Highlight how God's plans are trustworthy and true, and remind the students of God's faithfulness throughout history.
Promises and Conditions
Conditional Promises/ unconditional Promises
Unconditional Promise Ex.. God promising never to destroy the earth by Flood (Gen. 9)
Matthew 7:7
The Promise: It will be given you
The Condition: If you ask
The Promise: You will find
The Condition: If you seek
The Promise: It will be opened to you
The Condition: If you knock
Matthew 24:45-47
The Promise: God will make a person ruler over all that is His (His possessions).
The Condition: If that person is faithful and wise in charge of the “little things”.
John 3:16
Promise: You will have eternal life
The Condition: To whosoever will believe that God sent His only begotten son to die in our place as a sin offering.
Romans 8:31
The Promise: No one can be against you.
The Condition: When God is for you.
Philippians 4:13
The Promise: We can do all things.
The Condition: If Christ strengthens us
James 1:5-6
The Promise: .Wisdom will be given.
The Condition: If you ask of God in faith.
James 1:12
The Promise: We will receive the crown of life
The Condition: If we endure trials by temptation and love the Lord
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” God has promised to give us the desires of our heart but they’re conditional upon our delighting ourselves in Him and in His character. Our desires will then be a reflection of Who He is and God will then delight in giving us those desires.
Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee…” Peace is the birthright of every child of God. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
But that peace is contingent upon structuring our lives around Him. If we are dwelling upon the lies of the enemy rather than upon the truth of God’s Word there will be no peace – only discouragement and distress.
As you find promises in the Word of God, stop and consider the condition that may be attached. God’s promises and blessings are not ours to enjoy regardless of how we live the Christian life; but it’s as we die to self and learn the character of Christ that we begin to see the rewards of God’s blessing upon our lives.
The Promise of salvation and victory found in Verse 8:
Verse 8
Rev.21:4
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
The reason to rejoice and Praise
Because Victory is Yours
Promise of Salvation
In that day (cf. 24:21), the day when the believing remnant will be delivered, they (the saved ones) will affirm their trust in the Lord, who saved them. In response they will say let us rejoice and be glad in the salvation He provided. Meanwhile, in Isaiah’s day, believers in Judah were to rejoice in the Lord’s salvation.
Here are some scriptures that speak of Jesus' return:
1. Matthew 24:30 - "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory."
2. Acts 1:11 - "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
3. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 - "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
4. Revelation 22:12 - "Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done."
5. 2 Peter 3:10 - "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare."
These scriptures highlight the promise of Jesus' return and the importance of being prepared and faithful in anticipation of His coming.
Jesus told us that in this life we would have trouble: but not worries He said he has overcome it.
I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life
14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 1
4. **Application:** Challenge the students to think about how they can trust in God's promises in their own lives. Encourage them to rely on God's strength and seek refuge in Him during challenging times.
Sovereignty of God
Moses: a Beginning you won’t believe!
Moses had a spectacular beginning
Moses was called a beautiful child not just because his mother thought he was cute.
Scripture says “He was fair in the sight of God”
The Problem: He was born during a time of great turmoil for Hebrew slaves in Egypt
Multiplying to fast and Pharaoh ordered all Hebrew baby boys to be thrown into the Nile River
He was born under a death order, but his mother feared God more than Pharaoh
But when it go to dangerous, His mother put him in wicker basket and hid the basket on the banks on the Nile
And she stationed Moses sister Miriam nearby to see what would happen
And it just so happened that the wicker basket was in the spot where pharaoh’s daughter chose to bathe.
It just so happened that Moses' sister was on the scene to ask and receive permission to find a nurse for the baby.
Moses mother got to raise him anyway, and in the King’s palace no less.
This is called the sovereignty of God
5. **Discussion:** Lead a discussion on the themes of sovereignty, salvation, and victory in Isaiah 25. Ask the students how they can apply these themes to their daily lives and encourage them to share any insights or personal reflections.
By focusing on these key points and engaging the students in discussion, you can help them understand the message of Isaiah 25 and apply its teachings to their faith journey.
