"Having put on" the breastplate of righteousness .....
2. enduo (ἐνδύω, 1746), (Eng., “endue”), signifies “to enter into, get into,” as into clothes, “to put on,”
The Breastplate:
The prophet Isaiah fashions the breastplate into an image as he envisions God as a warrior who puts on “righteousness as his breastplate” (Is 59:17; cf. Wis 5:18). Ephesians 6:14 carries forward this image, crafting the breastplace of righteousness into a piece of armor for the church.
Greek word (Thorax) - a breastplate or corselet consisting of two parts and protecting the body on both sides from the neck to the middle,
SHOW PICTURE OF BREASTPLATE
This is what protects our hearts
We need our hearts (Blood flow) sustainer of life.
This is the very thing the enemy is going after.
You don’t wear a suit of armor at the dinner table.
You wear it when going into battle
The same is true when it comes to the Armor of God ……
You wear it because you are going to face battles on a daily basis.
Some big …. some small ….. but either way if the heart is hit it can take you out.
Greek (Dikaiosyne (Righteousness)
1. in the broad sense, the state of him who is such as he ought to be, righteousness.
a. integrity, virtue, purity of life, uprightness, correctness in thinking, feeling, and acting.
Righteousness—This means the consistent daily walk of the Christian. Satan is the accuser (Revelation 12:10And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.” ),
….. but the believer who walks in the light will give Satan no opportunity to attack. We stand in the imputed righteousness of Christ, and we walk in the imparted righteousness of the Holy Spirit.
1. dikaiosune (δικαιοσύνη, 1343) is “the character or quality of being right or just”; it was formerly spelled “rightwiseness,” which clearly expresses the meaning. It is used to denote an attribute of God, e.g., Rom. 3:5, the context of which shows that “the righteousness of God” means essentially the same as His faithfulness, or truthfulness, that which is consistent with His own nature and promises; Rom. 3:25, 26 speaks of His “righteousness” as exhibited in the death of Christ, which is sufficient to show men that God is neither indifferent to sin nor regards it lightly.
This righteousness is unattainable by obedience to any law, or by any merit of man’s own, or any other condition than that of faith in Christ.… The man who trusts in Christ becomes ‘the righteousness of God in Him,’ 2 Corinthians 5:21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” , i.e.,
…. righteousness becomes in Christ all that God requires a man to be, all that he could never be in himself Because Abraham accepted the Word of God, making it his own by that act of the mind and spirit which is called faith, and, as the sequel showed, submitting himself to its control, therefore God accepted him as one who fulfilled the whole of His requirements.
Isaiah 59:17He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head; ….”
Romans 6:13Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
Righteousness is the state of him who is such as he ought to be
It is correctness in thinking, feeling, and acting.
This is what protects our Heart. This is the breastplate ….
Thinking - Mind
Matthew 22:37And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Romans 8:5-6For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.” For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 12:2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Correctness of thinking
Feeling - Emotions
There is no work translated as “Feeling” in Scripture
There is emotions but not the word feeling
Emotions -
Bitterness …. desire …. favor …. hole ….. fear …. grieving
Correctness of feeling (of emotions)
Acting - Action
1 John 3:8Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
