Naomi Hilbers-Wilson Memorial Service

Born August 1, 1930, Centerville WV

First of 7 children to Dennis and Audra

Graduated from high school

Only one to graduate

Family moved to Rittman, OH her junior year in high school

Naomi allowed to stay in WV with grandmother and finish high school

After graduating from high school, Naomi moved in with relatives in Detroit

took a job as a secretary 

Naomi attended Temple Baptist Church

met Gerard Hilbers Jr

had just graduated from engineering school at UM

had begun his career working for Chevrolet

September 1950 married

Soon gave birth to a baby girl, Audrey 

About 2 years later moved to Buffalo 

1954—purchased their first home

Three more children born there

Gerry—1955

Alice—1957

Susan—1961

Grace Baptist Church every chance they could

1969 another promotion, another move

Muncie IN

1 year later, move back to Buffalo

Another promotion, another move

to Warren MI

Naomi never worked outside the house

Once kids were old enough, Naomi began to do volunteer work in the community

always home

morning when kids left for school

afternoon when kids returned after school

1982 Dad retired after 33 years

He was the pioneer of 'work from home jobs' as he consulted part time for several companies. 

In 1984 he was offered a full time consulting job at Volvo Holland in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. 

Mom and dad lived there for 5 years

happiest time of their lives

relax and enjoy living and traveling around Europe

1989 returned to Troy MI

Dad went back to part time consulting and mom to volunteer work. 

1992—Dad died suddenly of a heart attack at age 64  

Naomi took it hard and was basically a recluse for a couple of years

Back in 1947

Naomi, age 17, was spending the summer with her mother and siblings in OH,

she met a young local boy who proposed to her. 

Mom said no. 

This same teenager, who proposed to Mom, had also recently lost his wife. 

Mom's sister Barbara who still lived in Rittman OH, matched the 2 of them together

Walter proposed again and this time Mom said yes

Mom moved to Rittman and she and Walter built a beautiful new home where they happily lived until 2018 when Walter died

move to Las Cruces, NM at age 89 to live with daughter Susan 

Able to care for herself

communicating with her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

Naomi lived in a host of places

House with no running water or electricity

Rittman OH

Detroit

Buffalo

Muncie IN

Netherlands

Troy

Las Cruces NM

Traveled throughout Europe

Managed and kept a host of houses and households

Visited and saw a host of others throughout the world

Saw all sorts of dwellings that were called “home”

All the while her Lord and Savior was preparing a place for her

So that where He is

There she might be also

Jesus prepares a suite for you and me
