It doesn’t matter where you are going. It doesn’t matter the distance or location. You could be going to another country, across town, across the nation, or across the street. It doesn’t matter who you are traveling with or the reason. Your travel experience, no matter what the circumstance, can be improved immediately and exponentially with a short cut. “Amen” for the short cut. Right? (elaborate)
But on the flip side of the coin, that same travel experience. Same circumstances, far or near, can be ruined by a detour. That detour is bad news. The detour is that interruption in the regularly scheduled broadcast of our life’s plan that comes out of nowhere. (preach)

Protection Offered

The text opens with the reminder that God set Israel free in the way of Pharaoh, after a long fought battle, let the people go. But, God did not let the people take the shortcut. God sovereignly and in his infinite wisdom make Israel take a detour. And he does so not because he wanted them to go further but for their own good.
The saints used to say “God protects us from dangers seen and unseen.” (preach)
They weren't ready for war (fight Philistines eventually)
They were familiar with Egypt
they went out in battle formation. They had the might but not the maturity
I found myself on the turnpike. One night after leaving a date. I learned two valuable lessons that day. One its ok to ask for directions, but also, you get better miles per gallon on the highway.

Promises Kept

Then while you are going remember God keeps his promises. God keeps his promises. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit Joseph Jacob’s son, told his brothers and his people that one day God was going to show up and get his people back to their home and not to leave his bones behind. So the fact that they were leaving was evidence that God was keeping his promise and Moses wanted the people to be faithful to the promise and see it as they went.
What am I saying? Sometimes when you find yourself on a detour just remember that you are here today because of a promise God made yesterday. You are here today because of a miracle yesterday. You are here today because “God said I will take care of you”

Provision Made

Then along the way God is going to make sure you have what you need.
When times got hard you still had what you needed.
God was still leading you to the next point of your destiny.

Presence Realized

Still here. (preach)
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I know God is omnipresent, and there is nowhere we can go from his sight. But, I’m talking about he eminent manifest activity in the lives of the believer
