Introduction

Good morning church, it’s such a joy and privelege to be here with you all as we seek to take our eyes off of what is temporary, and truly place them on what is eternal.
But if you wouldn’t mind going ahead and having a seat for me, I’ve got 3 announcements for you this morning.
The first is a biggie, so lean in and pay attention okay.
Next Sunday, October 27th we will not be meeting here at City Center.
Due to the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival we aren’t allowed to be on property, so instead of meeting here, we’ll be gathering at Church on the Hill. What is formerly known as RH UMC.
Second key detail, we will not be meeting at 9 and 10:30. Instead we will have two services at 3:30 and 5pm.
It’ll be our normal sunday services. Full cbcKids and we’ll continue in the book of John, but again meeting at Church on the Hill and at 3:30 and 5pm.
Also, due to the seafood festival our Sr. Adult Bible Study that meets here at City Center will be postponed and reconvened on October 30th.
Next, I want to remind you that on November 3rd, we’ll be having our Baptism Service here during both services.
Baptism Sunday is by far my favorite Sunday of the year, and I can’t wait for you all to be edified by the testimonies that day.
Finally, as a reminder tonight is our inagural Child Dedication & Parent Commissionig Service.
We will be presenting and praying over 26 babies and their families.
But far from this being a service for them alone, this a church wide event and would love to see many of you come.
Alright…
Well if you remember, last week in our study of John we looked at Jesus’ Zeal for God in the cleansing of the Temple .
And at the root of that scene was an irreverance on behalf of the would be worshippers.
They had forgotten where they were, and who they were there to meet with.
And if you can remember, I challenged you all last week to not let that be our story.
That in preparation for this morning, instead of hustling and hurrying into church, that we’d prepare our hearts for Worship.
Well, in case you forgot, or simply struggled to do it I’d like to serve you right now.
As we prepare to go back into worship through song, would you just close your eyes.
Wherever you’re seated, just get still for just a moment and listen as I read Ephesians 2 over you.
Ephesians 2:1–7 “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
Go ahead and stand with me… Father, We were dead. But by your grace, you gave us new life. You are rich in mercy. You are great in love. May you be worshipped accordingly this morning. Amen.
