Faith for the Future

What has God been teaching me this past three months. I have asked God to give us vision

What an amazing, exciting, fully relying on God time it has been!

We have fallen in love with what God is doing here- We know we are called here by God!

Today we will look at three Psalms that will guide us to understand God’s call on our lives.

Today we need Salvation- We need Salvation from all things- First and foremost it is our death! It is also a Salvation for everyday life we need to be saved from our selves!

Faith for the future is in God- Complete Trust in God- Psalm 62:1-2; 7-8

Our faith is only in God

Are we looking to man for Salvation- What does man offer- false hope; If it is not clear that God will do it, That his promises are true then we must flee this person.

How easily we can be comforted by seeking the approval of man, or even mans words. God will use men and women of faith to encourage us, but those words should point us to him.

What an important to ask this question, are we moved by a presidential candidate- I promise how this election turn out- we hope and we pray for a return back to the things of God, but I know that what the outcome will show us- who we are placing our faith in. - It is not us who is able to keep us from being shaken- God is our rock.

Vote- know who you are voting for, we need to be men and women of conviction from the Lord- but none of this is becuase of us it is of the Lord.

Are we greatly shaken- what comes our way is from the Lord- weather to bless us or teach us. All from the Lord

Faith is centered on waiting on the Lord (VS 1)

One of the most difficult things for us is to learn how to wait on God. I don’t want deliverance eventually I want deliverance now, but our impatience can get us in trouble.- Chuck Smith

We will be a church that has to live by faith and not our feelings!

What are your feelings telling you today- Pray do not be discouraged you are trying to fix it your are trying to escape, turn to prayer!

Be still

To live by faith is far happier than to live by feelings- Charles Spurgeon

This is will always be a fight, our feelings are misleading and lead us no where good. The lead to us trying to do something other than pray!

We feel we deserve better than this

We feel we shouldn't be where we are at

and the list goes on.

When we live by faith big things are possible because God is an all powerful

You who have been here longer than me

Where have you placed you faith in?

Has it been the past, we no longer live in the past we are going forward as the Lord answers!

Has it been what we have always been, God is doing a fresh and a new, according to His ways. Do not be afraid of the new or do not be angry when God moves your cheese.

I had placed it in my comfort- God is dealing with me in this

What about you! - I know that I am not alone- that is what is so amazing about fellowship

We need one another!

Just like David I am praying that until the Lord answers we will be immovable-

This is not a prayer for easy things, but when it will be hard we will not trust on our dangerous emotions or thoughts that we know better than God.

God is our defense - VS 2

When we wait we think we are vulnerable rather we are more than ever protected when we surrender!

Psalm 33:20 “Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.”

Our problems arise when we wont trust in God!

Prayer is a reflection of our waiting

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”

Church this is the only place we can wait- is in His presence

God is our refuge VS 7- Were do we find safety? If it is not in Christ it is failing!

There will be times when you will need refuge; we are human, do not try to be more than you are!

Jeremiah 3:23 “Surely, the hills are a deception, A tumult on the mountains. Surely in the Lord our God Is the salvation of Israel.”

Where do you go for your Salvation?

Trust in God is not for just one of us! Its Corporate (vs 8)

David’s personal realization becomes his reflection corporately

This is not optional- Just as I am aware this is not an option for myself nor is it for you.

We are in this together. (All Times)

Who Foothills Calvary will be will be determined by God!

In these short three months what are we waiting on God for

Revival- we need God to revive us- Some of us are ready to quit, asK for your faith to increase.

Provisions- We can ask God and he will provide, He is faithful

All things- nothing has been done by our hands, it is in prayer

But we are in times foothills Calvary has never been before.

It is not a time to stop coming, or rely on yourself, or quit it is a time to trust God with all we have!

Let us be immovable- because God is who He is! He is who we have faith in for the future

2. Faith for the Future- God will bring all things to completion Psalm 66:1-20

We will be present in the completion of His work Love God, Love Others and Make disciples

The blessing of faith in God

1. We praise His name: VS 1-4

We know who has done the work!

Psalm 100:1 “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.”

Are our shouts limited to some- We should not be silent

What are the great works of God- Salvation-

Psalm 18:44 “As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners submit to me.”

We will be present as God saves people, Baptisms Baby dedications

2. We invite others to come and see vs 5-7

God is the only one who can rescue them, invite them to come and see, you don’t have all the answers nor do I but Jesus does

Invitations are not optional when it comes to the mighty power of God- do not be discouraged by the answer- to many of us have become discouraged.

There is power in an invitation- you are not inviting them to come check out our church, you are asking them that they would come and see what God has done and what He is calling them to!

3. We will go through trials together (vs 8-12)

What are our trials for- to draw us closer to God, They are for our good, we have gotten church and fellowship all wrong- we need to be careful no to become comfortable!

Lets be honest you wanted to draw away from God and do it on your own cause its getting hard- been there! What are the trials for our good, how do we know they are from God?

God in His goodness continues to show us where we aren't depending on Him- they are for our good. please be a church that does not abandon in the trial but yet lean on the promise of God.

1 Peter 1:7 “so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”

Psalm 17:15 “As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.”

God will sustain us- through Christ

They are nothing for God-

4. We go to His house with obedience (vs 13-15)

Psalm 116:14 “I shall pay my vows to the Lord, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people.”

This is apart of our devotion to God is to gather in obedience! Together to not neglect this gathering!

What happens when we gather to Honor God!

Honest about our sin, honest about His grace, Honest about our continual need for Him, so that we may do the same for others.

We honestly tell others what God has done for us!

Psalm 116:1–2 “I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live.”

What is the call to action

Place all you trust in God- your salvation spiritually and daily

Join with me on waiting on the Lord- we will do what He says be prepared to journey as we follow God’s leading

Right now we are being called to trust Him- we are in a new territory for our church but not for God!

Do not trust in ourselves but surrender to His will

Get involved- Come to His house with obedience
