This Month is a Very Special One

Im sure many of you may know that it is Pastor Appreciation Month
I believe we have a few Pastors that deserve some appreciation.
Before we do that I wanted to present to you quickly what it means scripturally to be a Pastor.

The Apostles Discuss the Role of Being a Sheppard or Pastor Frequently

Ephesians 4:11–13 (NIV)
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the PASTORS and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
It’s important to remember that every single one of us who are believers have received spiritual gifts.
However, the Pastoral gift carries exceptional weight.

Scripture Tells Us What Qualities Characterize a Pastor

They are to be the Sheppard to the Sheep!
1 Peter 5:2–3 NIV
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
Must be faithful to Christ who is the Chief Sheppard!
Self-sacrificing!
Striving daily to seek the lost!

This Responsibility is Not as Glamorous as Some MayThink

James 3:1 NIV
Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.
Because of this responsibility and position held within the Church, harsher judgment and condemnation may come.

But Despite all This Our Pastors have Been Obedient to God’s Calling in Their Lives

And today we just want to publicly make a statement of our appreciation to them for their faithfulness.
