Pray
Have you ever been to Murrietta Hot Springs?
Or Maybe seen a natural Spring?
Timothys Coach in Colorado
The Spring is continually filled with water, but it doesn’t hold the water for itself
It continues to fill and the water runs from the spring and spills out onto the areas around it…
The water that overflows nourishes the ground, plants, and everything nearby, bringing life and refreshment to everything in its path.
The same is to be true for us…
The imparted Love of God In our life is to impact the Lives of those around us…
The words that we say, the way that we live, is to bring LIFE and LOVE to the people God has put in our lives.
1 John 4:7–8 (NKJV)
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
I. You Impart Love When You Have Been Impacted by the Love of God (1 John 4:7-8)
I. You Impart Love When You Have Been Impacted by the Love of God (1 John 4:7-8)
A. Definition of God's Love
Scripture: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” (1 John 4:7-8)
Explanation:
Love is a fundamental aspect of God's character. The text emphasizes that love originates from God; it is not merely an action but the essence of who God is.Knowing God means experiencing His love; thus, our ability to love others is rooted in our relationship with Him.
B. Experiencing God's Love
Scripture: “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5)
Explanation:
When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit pours God’s love into our hearts. This divine love changes us from within, prompting a new way of living that reflects God’s love to others.
Scripture: “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1)
Explanation:
Understanding our identity as children of God brings a profound sense of belonging and security, motivating us to share that love with others.
C. Outflowing of Love
Scripture: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
Explanation:
Jesus redefines love through His example. Our love for one another should mirror the sacrificial and unconditional love He has shown us.This command is not optional; it’s a natural response to experiencing God’s love.
Application:
How have you experienced God’s love; HOw can you share that love with others?
II. You Impart Love When You Recognize the Sacrifice of Christ (1 John 4:9-10)
II. You Impart Love When You Recognize the Sacrifice of Christ (1 John 4:9-10)
A. God's Love Demonstrated Through Christ
Scripture: “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” (1 John 4:9)
Explanation:
God's love is not just theoretical; it is tangible and historical, demonstrated in the person of Jesus Christ. His incarnation shows us the lengths God will go to express His love.
Scripture: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
Explanation:
Christ's sacrificial death illustrates the depth of God’s love. He didn’t wait for us to become worthy; He loved us in our brokenness.
B. Recognizing the Purpose of the Sacrifice
Scripture: “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)
Explanation:
The concept of propitiation means that Christ bore our punishment, satisfying God's justice. This understanding deepens our appreciation of God’s grace.
Scripture: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
Explanation:
Through Christ's sacrifice, we are not only forgiven but also called to be ambassadors of that reconciliation, sharing the message of God’s love.
C. Living in Response to Christ's Sacrifice
Scripture: “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:1-2)
Explanation:
Our lives should reflect Christ’s love and sacrifice. Imitating God involves embodying His love in our actions.
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.” (Colossians 3:12-14)
Explanation:
This passage calls us to actively live out love through compassion, kindness, and forgiveness, reflecting the love we have received from Christ.
III. You Impart Love When You Show It to Others (1 John 4:11)
III. You Impart Love When You Show It to Others (1 John 4:11)
A. Command to Love One Another
Scripture: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:11)
Explanation:
Our response to God’s love is to love others. This isn't merely an option; it’s a moral obligation rooted in our relationship with God.
Scripture: “And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:37-39)
Explanation:
Loving God and loving others are interconnected commands that guide our faith and actions.
B. The Impact of Showing Love
Scripture: “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)
Explanation:
Our love for each other serves as a testimony to the world about the reality of Christ in our lives. It sets us apart as His followers.
Scripture: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.” (Acts 2:42-43)
Explanation:
The early church thrived on community and love, leading to a profound impact on those around them.
C. Practical Applications of Love
Scripture: “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)
Explanation:
Freedom in Christ calls us to serve others rather than indulge ourselves. Love becomes the motivation for our actions.
Scripture: “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
Explanation:
We are called to actively support and uplift each other in love, creating a strong community that reflects God’s love.
