1. (V14) Remind the (faithful men) not to strive about words to no profit to the ruin of the hearers

Essential to the faith
The deity of Christ.
Salvation by grace
Salvation through Jesus Christ alone
The resurrection of Christ
Non-essentials of the faith
When the rapture will take place
Can you loose your salvation
Do not strive / Battle over minor details to the ruin of the hearer
Don’t argue over details of the faith that do not matter
Christians fight over Bible translations,

2. (V15) Be diligent to present yourself approved to God

Put effort into knowing the Word of God, presenting yourself approved to God
1 Timothy 4:13 “Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
2 Peter 1:10 “Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;”

3. (V16) Shun profane and idle babblings

Babblings / Empty chatter
Matthew 12:36 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.”

3.1 (V17) Idle babblings spread like cancer

It reminds me of gossip, weather its true or not it spreads like cancer, which is why its so dangerous
