How often we find ourselves overwhelmed…or even flip from one emotion to the next in a moment.
I want to show you a clip of recent movie from last summer. This is the movie “Inside Out 2”.
In this short clip we see a young girl, 13 years of age, and her gamete of emotions.
Some of us will say, I am non-emotional or I don’t really experience a change of emotions very often and others may consider themselves as highly emotional people.
Before I play the clip…we should note the most of the characters are separate emotions and each bringing forth consequence for the energies they bring to the mind and heart.
Let’s watch the clip and then we will dive into where the Lord is taking us in the text of Scripture:
Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Anxiousness
In research conducted for The Connected Generation, Barna’s largest-ever study, data show that half of U.S. 18–35-year-olds (49%) expressed anxiety over important decisions and were afraid to fail. Over three in 10 said they often felt sad or depressed (39%) or lonely and isolated from others (34%).
Matthew 6:34 ESV
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow—only today of its strength.

Anxiousness Destroys Faith, But Faithful Prayer Puts Anxiety To Death

Philippians 4:6 (ESV)
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Believing supplications are forecasts of the future.

The Outflow: Prayer Brings Peace

Philippians 4:7 ESV
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I feel and grieve, but, by the grace of God, I fret at nothing.
John Wesley (Founder of the Methodist Movement)
