Who was Solomon’s Mother?
David & Bathsheba
What a story!
The story of David and Bathsheba is a powerful account of love, sin, repentance, and redemption. Here are the key points:
David Sees Bathsheba: While King David’s army was at war, he stayed behind in Jerusalem. From his rooftop, he saw Bathsheba bathing and was captivated by her beauty (2 Samuel 11:1-2).
The Affair: David sent for Bathsheba, and they had an affair, resulting in her becoming pregnant.
Uriah’s Loyalty: To cover up the affair, David summoned Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, from the battlefield, hoping he would go home and sleep with his wife. H
David’s Plot: Realizing that Uriah would not go home, David sent him back to the front lines with orders to Joab, the army commander, to place Uriah where the fighting was hot. Uriah was killed in battle as a result (2 Samuel 11:14-17).
David Marries Bathsheba: After Uriah’s death, Bathsheba mourned, and David brought her into his palace as his wife. She bore him a son, but God was displeased with David’s actions (2 Samuel 11:26-27).
Nathan’s Rebuke: God sent the prophet Nathan to confront David.
David’s Repentance: Confronted with his sin, David admitted his guilt, saying, “I have sinned against the Lord.” He wrote Psalm 51, expressing deep repentance and seeking God’s forgiveness (2 Samuel 12:13; Psalm 51).

Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.
The Consequences: Although God forgave David, consequences followed. The child born from the affair became ill and died despite David’s prayers and fasting.
The Birth of Solomon: Afterward, Bathsheba and David had another son, Solomon, whom God loved. Solomon went on to become king and is known for his wisdom and for building the Temple in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 12:24-25).
