WE CHANGE LIVES BY GIVING

Mark 12:41–44 (ESV)

And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Giving is not the amount, its the heart.

Jonah finally went to Ninevah.

Volunteering vs Serving

Volunteering is something you do, serving is something you heart.

Volunteers: Look what I have done (Focuses Outside)

Serving: Look what God has done (Focuses on the Heart)

2. Volunteers focus on what they give, servants focus on what Jesus gave.

Volunteers: I have given so much! (Time, Talent Treasure)

Servant: Jesus have given so much!

3. Volunteers keep score, Servants make sacrifices.

Volunteers: Expect something in return

Servant: Servants know they will never be paid back (bond servant)

6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart

Bondservants

-Drove a Nail through an ear

-Free Slaves (They paid there debt)

-Served their master willingly with their life!

-Because of what Jesus has done we are bondservants for Him.

4. Volunteers are time sensitive. Servants are need sensitive.

Volunteers: I only have this much time.

Servants: whats the need?

5. Volunteering is about convenience. Serving is about commitment.

Volunteers: I will serve if it fits my needs.

Servants: I am here for the long haul.
