The Mission We Have Been Given

We are called to teach everything that Jesus has commanded.
See Matthew 28:18–20...

Some Things His Word Commands

We are to differentiate between sin and righteousness.
Romans 12:9 “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21–22 “but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.”
Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
We are to call out false teaching.
Jude 3 “Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.”
Titus 1:9 “He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.”
See 2 Timothy 2:24-26...
We are to call the lost to repent of their sins.
Luke 13:3 “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
See Luke 24:46–48...
Mark 1:15 “and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.””
We are called to confront Christians who have fallen into sin.
See Matthew 18:15-17...
Galatians 6:1 “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.”

The Call to Judge With Right Judgment

We are commanded to judge with right judgment.
John 7:24 “Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.””
Ignoring sin is a hateful act.
Leviticus 19:17 ““You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.”
Proverbs 27:6 “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”
1 Corinthians 13:6 “it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.”
Rescuing someone from sin is the most loving thing we can do!
James 5:19–20 “My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”
