Six Risky Prayers
1. Search me.
Psalm 139:23
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
2. Disturb me.
Jeremiah 20:7
O Lord, You induced me, and I was persuaded;
You are stronger than I, and have prevailed.
I am in derision daily;
Everyone mocks me.
8 For when I spoke, I cried out;
I shouted, “Violence and plunder!”
Because the word of the Lord was made to me
A reproach and a derision daily.
9 Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not.
3. Break me.
Deuteronomy 32:39
‘Now see that I, even I, am He,
And there is no God besides Me;
I kill and I make alive;
I wound and I heal;
Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.
Job 5:18
For He bruises, but He binds up;
He wounds, but His hands make whole.
Hosea 6:1
Come, and let us return to the Lord;
Ephesians 3:20
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think, according to the power that
works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
5. Lead me.
Asts 9:1-6
Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder
against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2
and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus,
so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or
women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and
suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he
fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul,
Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
5 And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are
persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do
You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city,
and you will be told what you must do.”
Acts 9:16
16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer
for My name’s sake.”
6. Use me.
Ephesians 6: 18-20
praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all
perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20
for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
