This morning we will be studying in Palms .I just want to start by making a few comments on the election that is coming up on Tuesday.
I believe this is a very important election. I think this election could be a big decider of where we are going as a country. For me this election is not as much about Trump or Harris as it is where this country stands on In God we trust. Are we still a Christian nation.
God judged Isreal on a few occasions , but it wasn’t the end of time. It was a punishment for Gods people walking away from Him. For putting there trust in other Gods instead of in the Great I Am. God wanted His people to turn back to Him . To turn there worship back to Him.
I've noticed a lot of preachers now days that have all ways been teachers of the Gospel speaking more and more about politics . They throw scripture in to prove there point but the point they want to get across is political views. What this world needs , what this country needs, what are schools need what are family's need is God.
By all means ,get out and vote Tuesday . Its Important, but all of this will be in vain if we as a nation don't turn back to Christ. We are in a unique situation where are form of Government is for the people by the people. We can blame all we want on the government but the truth is we the people as a whole had quit putting God first.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I've started to see more people coming back to God. There are several Christian groups growing on college campuses . More professional athletes or starting to talk about faith openly. There seems to be more people returning to faith are coming to faith. Like I said by all means get out and vote . Give your vote to who represents your values but God is where your faith has to be. God is where your hope is and God is the only one who deserves your worship and praise.
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
While I live I will praise the Lord;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Hallelujah Hallelujah O my soul. In Hebrew this could be translated to I praise the Lord, because your soul is your living being. It is Gods breath in your noise it is your essence.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Praise God. For how long? For as long as your Living. As Christians for all eternity as well.
Forget not all His benefits
Sometimes I find the need to get to the basics. Praise God for your salvation, your existence your spouse, your Kids, grand kids, your church family, creation, ETERNAL LIFE. These are the things that really count.
ps146:3-4
Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.” For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.
What does man have to offer? Praises to God is it. Praises to man is all in vain. Man is mortal aside from God. Are there any tents left that Paul built. Is there any fish mounted that Peter caught. What is left is what they did while serving God.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
They have bowed down and fallen;
But we have risen and stand upright.
Our trust cant be in man our trust cant be in war machines . Our trust can only be in God. that is where are strength comes from.
Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,
Or the golden bowl is broken,
Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,
Or the wheel broken at the well.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,
And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Isn't this the exact opposite of trusting in man. When we put our trust in man you wait for the next shoe to drop, but when you trust in God your future is secure. Your hope is in all Mighty God. The God that spoke the world into existence. That created man in His image . That has no beginning or end.
Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.
Justice is what we deserve , but mercy and grace is what we get when we put our trust in Jesus. We are justified because of the blood of Jesus. Not of anything we do are we would boast. The justice , punishment for the oppressor is for not putting there faith in God .
Who executes justice for the oppressed
The Lord executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
Who gives food to the hungry
For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoner
Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
Bound in affliction and irons—
Because they rebelled against the words of God,
And despised the counsel of the Most High,
Therefore He brought down their heart with labor;
They fell down, and there was none to help.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
And broke their chains in pieces.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
For He has broken the gates of bronze,
And cut the bars of iron in two.
Isn't that awesome. He sets the captive free
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
Jesus opens the eyes of the blind. Do you remember in John 9 Jesus healed the man that had been blind since birth. Then the Pharisees cast him out , then Jesus came back to him and said
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?”
And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.”
Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.
And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.”
Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”
Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
Jesus heals the spiritually blind. The man getting his eye-site,that was awesome, but I would imagine if you asked him now which site was the biggest blessing he would have no trouble answering.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
He raises those who are bowed down
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
The Lord loves righteousness
He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
He watches over the strangers, He relieves the fatherless and widows.
He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.
Jesus does so many of these things miraculously, but often He uses His followers to accomplish these things .
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
We the church . Gods Kingdom on earth. We have a job to do and our reward is great. There is no earthly reward that can compare. Eternal Life.
but the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
The Lord shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!
Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”
Isn't that awesome. And those that have put there faith in Christ will reign with Him. For ever and ever.
If you have not made that decision in your life. Please come and talk with me or someone else here today we would be happy to answer questions you might have.
Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.
