When I See the Blood

Exodus 12:1–13 NKJV
Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire—its head with its legs and its entrails. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover. ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Exodus 12:23 NKJV
For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

Assurance of Salvation

Many struggle with assurance of their salvation.
The struggle is the result of focusing on US rather than on GOD.
What do we see? What does God see?

The First Passover

Israel’s connection to Abraham did not save them.
The miracles did not save them.
Moses did not save them.
God saved them! He told them to find a spotless lamb, put it through the fire, eat the flesh, stay in the house with blood on the door.

God Doesn’t See Us

God did not look upon their past.
God did not look upon their imperfections.
God did not look upon their shortcomings.
God did not look upon their weakness.
God did not look upon their sin and iniquity.
Psalm 103:10 NKJV
He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
Psalm 130:3–4 NKJV
If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.
God doesn’t look upon our qualifications
Philippians 3:1–11 NKJV
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
God did not say, “When I see your ethnicity” (Jew or Gentile)
God did not say, “When I see your ancestry.” (Your family legacy)
God did not say, “When I see your denominational affiliation!” (Anglican, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Catholic, etc.)
God did not say, “When I see your good works!”
God did not say, “When I see your hard work!”
God did not say, “When I see your good reputation!”
God did not say, “When I see your faithfulness!”
God did not say, “When I see your contribution record!”
God did not say, “When I see your success!”
God did not say, “When I see your popularity!”
God did not say, “When I see your biblical knowledge!”
Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

God sees the Blood!

The Blood of the Lamb
John 1:29 NKJV
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
The thief on the Cross
Luke 23:42–43 NKJV
Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
The thief had no baptism, no communion, no confirmation, no speaking in tongues, no mission trip, no volunteerism, and no church clothes. He couldn’t bend his knees to pray. He didn’t say the sinner's prayer, he was a thief. Jesus didn’t take away his pain, heal his body, or smite the scoffers. Yet it was a thief who walked into heaven the same hour as Jesus simply by believing.
It was the blood of the lamb!
It was the blood applied to the door! Jesus, the Lamb of God, on the Cross became the blood stained Door!
Matthew 26:28 NKJV
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
John 6:56 NKJV
He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
Romans 5:9 NKJV
Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Colossians 1:19–20 NKJV
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
1 Peter 1:18–19 NKJV
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
1 John 1:7 NKJV
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Revelation 1:4–5 NKJV
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
Revelation 7:14 NKJV
And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Revelation 12:10–11 NKJV
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Martin Lloyd-Jones: “Thank God my salvation does not depend upon my frail hold on Him, but of His mighty grasp on me.”

Response to the Word

Stop looking at yourself! (And stop looking at others!)
God is looking at the Blood--”When I see the Blood, I will pass over You!”
