Come On In (Hebrews 10:11-22)

Intro

Sacrifice for Supplications (19)
We have boldness to enter into the holiest of holies.
Boldness - free and fearless confidence, cheerful courage.
As a born again child of God, we have free and fearless confidence to enter into the throne room of God and into his presence.
Prayer raises man up to God and brings God down to man.

Access to Come On In (by the blood of Jesus)

There is no doubt that God answered multiple prayers in the Old Testament. But to be in the presence of God was scarce.
Exodus 19:10–13 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: There shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount.”
Even with the children of Israel being redeemed, saved from Egypt, and being the children of God, they still didn’t have access to God at any time.
Leviticus 16:1–3 “And the Lord spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the Lord, and died; And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.”
Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, And your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
How many of the children of Israel would desire the presence of God, ask for forgiveness, cast the cares of this life on God, but they would have to wait. IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN YOU HAVE INSTANT, IMMEDIATE ACCESS TO THE THRONE OF GOD!
The Blood of Christ makes the throne room accessible!
Matthew 27:50–51 “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;”
Hebrews 9:11–12 “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Authorized To Come On In (consecrated for us)

Because We’re Priests

Consecrated - (Greek) to inaugurate = to introduce or induct into an office
Revelation 1:5–6 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
Those old testament saints were saved, but sin had not yet been paid for. No matter how good they were, not matter how well they kept the law, no matter their faithfulness, they could not freely enter into the presence of God. (Paradise)
Hebrews 4:15–16 “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Because we have trusted in the blood of Christ, He has washed away our sin, He has made us priests, and thus HE HAS MADE US AUTHORIZED TO COME IN!

Romans 8:15 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
Cry - to cry out aloud (DADDY!!! DADDY!!! I NEED YOU!)
Galatians 4:4–5 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”
1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
Every time the phrase “sons of God” is mentioned in the OT, it is in reference to angels or fallen angels.
Every time the phrase “sons of God” is mentioned in the OT, it is in reference to those who were strangers and foreigners brought into a relationship with the Father.
“Our Father, which art in heaven.”
YOU DON’T JUST HAVE ACCESS TO THE GOD OF ALL GLORY, YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE BEST FATHER YOU’LL EVER HAVE!!!!!

Assured To Come On In (full assurance of faith)

Because of our High Priest. (21)
Hebrews 7:23–28 “And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.”
Over the household of God.
Ephesians 2:19 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;”
Because we have a clear conscience (22) (cleared on our side/justified)
Hebrews 10:1–3 “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.” (no more remembrance of sins)
Have you messed up today? No need to wait for the day of atonement for forgiveness. No need to offer an animal sacrifice. ( 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” )
We have full assurance that we can come into the presence of God without having to worry about rejection, separation, or death.
Because we have been washed by the word (22) (cleared on God’s side)
Ephesians 5:25–27 “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Thank God we can have full assurance that because we’ve been washed and our sins are gone, we can come on in to the throne room and pray anytime, anywhere, any condition.
It turns out prayer just isn’t words, prayer is being in the presence of God. If you want the presence of God in your life, pray.
In reality, the denial of prayer is a denial of God himself.
