Intro/Review:

Veteran’s Day - Thank you for your service
Finish Line Faith

Transition to Message:

How many meals do you eat in a week? 14-21? Any snacks? How do you know when you are hungry? Anyone eat even when you aren’t hungry? How much time would you guess you spend eating each week? 10 hours, 15 hours, more?

Passage Focus & Teaching:

2 Timothy 3:14–17 (NIV)
14 But as for you,
continue in what you have learned
and have become convinced of,
because you know those from whom you learned it,
15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is God-breathed
approximately 40 authors, over the course of 1500 years, 25,000 NT, 17,000 OT - estimated as high as 66,000 OT & NT manuscripts
and is useful
not a book to be set on the shelf…to be written in our heart and mind, readily accessible
for teaching,
instruction, providing wisdom, shaping the pupil
rebuking,
loving confrontation, compassionate objection, peacefully yet firmly standing our ground
correcting
pointing in the right direction, guiding, adjusting a destructive course
and training in righteousness,
a continual process, unending, incomplete until Christ returns
17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Proverbs 4:20–23 (NIV)
20 My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
21 Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart;
22 for they are life to those who find them
and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.

Closing/Call to Action:

Life Verses
When we’re angry…don’t let the sun go down, avoid giving the devil a foothold
When we don’t know who or what to trust…trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding
When we are tired and don’t think we can make it…remember, “Come to me all who are tired and weary…”
When we don’t have the strength….remember, “all things are possible through God who strengthens me”
When we are hurting…He is the one who will lay us down in green pastures and lead us by quiet waters
When we are tempted…no temptation comes to us that is unusual, but He provides a way out
