For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
This is an individual lament, a cry out to the divine judge for the attack that David is about to endure
3 cycles
1st the attacks he was experiencing
2nd the perjury, he prays god would examine the evidence and act without delay
3rd the mockery, he prays for judgement concerning all, and then himself and then he pledges praise
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
Satan uses this passage out of Psalm 91 to justify his actions of tempting Jesus. By employing God and what God can do thinking that if thats who is called on it will be because of something satan said or did.
you ever known someone that it has to be there idea before anything good can come out of it. A lot of times that person is very prideful. You word conversations to make them think it was there idea but it was really yours to begin with and you accomplished it but your not prideful so you don’t care.. well that’s what satan is doing. He’s twisting this scripture to make it look like what he’s doing in tempting Christ is justified by the scripture of psalm 91
6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “ ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! 21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!
David had been stirring up himself and others to praise God to worship. revival
Here he turns and preaches to the choir, not that the angels need to be reminded or commishioned to worship. They were created to worship, they are able, they excel in strength, they are mighty, they are able to bring things to pass, and to abide in their work without weariness. Angels OBEY.
For as much as the angels do we are to be reminded to do his will. When we have done ever so much in the service of God, we must stir up ourselves to do more. Never be content.
Finish the fight
1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. 6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.
for he spoke it and it was so, and since creation he has made known his will to us so that we worship and that decreee will be forever and ever amen for he was and is and forever will be
