Sharing the Gospel
Sharing the Gospel
One of the most immediate and intense desires of a new Christian is to share the incredible gift of salvation with someone else. Anyone who has been saved can tell someone else what they experienced—even if they don’t know the most polished way to present it.
You may not always find exactly the right words, but God has given you and every other Christian the task of representing Him to a lost and dying world. He tells us we are His ambassadors, responsible to take the message of salvation to others.
God has given us a message that is a matter of life and death to share with the world. This message is worth every effort on our part. And it is essential that we both understand it thoroughly and communicate it clearly.
Understanding the Gospel
Before you can clearly share the gospel with someone else, you need to be clear on what the gospel is—and isn’t.
The Gospel is found in 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 “1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Avoid the Extremes
Paul Chappel said this “While some soulwinners complicate the message, others make it shallow. They are repetitive and trite in their presentation, making it more of a sales pitch to “pray a prayer” than a call to turn to and believe solely in Christ for salvation.”
There are really two extremes when presenting the Gospel
The first is that your life must be totally cleaned up before you can get saved. It makes salvation more than trusting that Jesus died for your sins was buried and rose again.
The second is that you just pray a prayer and you’re saved.
Some get scared when you start using the word repentance when it comes to salvation, but it is a biblical thing, look at Acts 20:21 “21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The word repent means to turn around and do in the opposite direction. Here we see that we are turning from trusting in ourselves to trusting in a Holy God, and place our faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross.
Have a plan
A failure to plan is a plan to fail
We should make a plan to share the Gospel at least once a week.
Giving a clear presentation
Understand that God loves you
John 3:16 “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God loves us so much we don’t have to hope we are saved we can know
1 John 5:13 “13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
Realize your condition
Romans 5:12 “12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans 3:10 “10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:23 “23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Notice God’s price for sin
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
A wage is what you earn for what you do. For instance, a man earns a paycheck for the work he has done. Even so, we deserve eternal death in Hell for the sins we have committed. Some people believe they can pay the price for sin by doing good works or being involved in religion. This may seem logical, but it’s not what the Bible says. In fact, the Bible specifically tells us that we can’t earn our way to Heaven through good works.
Ephesians 2:8–9 “8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Believe Christ died for you
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:8 “8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Confess your faith in Christ
Romans 10:9–11 “9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”
Leading to a Decision
Remember that you don’t want to force anyone to receive the gospel, allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you as you share the Gospel with others.

Dealing with Common Questions
Dealing with Common Questions
I think everyone who shares the Gospel has a fear that someone will ask a question you don’t know the answer too. It will happen and its okay, and its okay to say you don’t know the answer but you will read the scriptures and get spiritual advice from your pastor or a trusted friend, lets look at a few that might come up.
Common objections
I’ve always been a Christian
John 3:3 “3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
I’ve asked God to forgive me many times
Asking for forgiveness is not the same as trusting in Jesus Christ as your saviour
Romans 10:13 “13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
This is too simple, I have to do something to earn it
Ephesians 2:8–9 “8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:5 “5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
I’m to bad to get saved
Isaiah 53:6 “6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way; And the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Is there really a heaven and hell
Hebrews 9:27 “27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
Luke 16:22–24 “22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”
I don’t want to give up my life style or my friends
Mark 8:36–37 “36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
As long as I am sincere in what I believe i’m okay
Proverbs 14:12 “12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.”
John 14:6 “6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The Deity of Christ
One of the most important truths for a soulwinner—for every Christian—is to have a firm grasp on the deity of Christ. False teachers and cults all attack the truth that Jesus is, in fact, God. Why is this so important? Because if Jesus is not God, that would mean He did not live a sinless life, and He could not pay for our sins. Also, if Jesus is not God, His sacrifice could not cover the sins of the entire world.
1 John 3:5 “5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
1 John 2:2 “2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
HIs deity is shown in many ways
His name
Isaiah 9:6 “6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
His works
He made the world
He upholds the world
he forgives sin
he gives eternal life
Through worship
Matthew 2:2 “2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”
Matthew 14:33 “33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”

His resurrection
