The motive was the Love of God and Love for our fellow man!

this morning we look at the message of the mission.

The primary truth

The story of the Bible reveals that mankind’s greatest enemy is Satan, and their greatest problem is sin. Therefore, Mankind’s greatest need is a savior to save us form the oppression of satan and slavery to sin. The central purpose of Jesus Christ coming into the world was to suffer, die on the cross, and rise from the dead to conquer sin and defeat Satan so that mankind can be saved through Him. The essential work of Christ (dying and rising from the dead for the forgiveness of sin ) is now the essential message of the mission of the Church.

Luke 24:44–49 (CSB)

44 He told them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. 46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered, from on high.”

Now, the Old Testament that I hold in my hand is the Old Testament that Jesus held in His hands. There were 39 Books in Jesus’ Bible; there are 39 Books in the Old Covenant in my Bible. The same Bible that Jesus used we use; it is our Bible also.

The Bible is an open book on Jesus' life and mission.

in the promised Son of David that these events are fulfilled. Old Testament hope is being realized here (though at the time Jesus spoke the scriptural texts were not known as the Old Testament, but simply as the revered writings of the Jewish faith, the Scriptures). Jesus says he is the completion and fulfillment of scriptural promise and hope: What God promises, he brings to pass. In fact, you are experiencing the center of his plan right now. To know Jesus is to be in the will of God.

2. With out God assistance we cannot understand His word

2 Corinthians 4:3–6 (CSB)

3. We are to proclaim Jesus

Luke 24:46–47 (CSB)

46 He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, 47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

WE are to proclaim the Message of the Jesus

we are to be criers of the Gospel message

His death, his resurrection.

4. You do not have forgiveness with out the recognition and repentance of Sin!

47 and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered, from on high.”

Steven lumberyard put it this way about a well known. Preacher who gives an invitation to accept Jesus as lord and savior.

You never told me that I’ve sinned against a holy God. You never explained that I have fallen short of God’s righteousness. You never told me that the penalty for my sin is everlasting torment. You never said that I cannot get right with God by my own efforts. You didn’t tell me that Jesus paid the penalty for my sin on the cross. You didn’t explain that Jesus died, was buried and rose again for me. You didn’t tell me that my only hope in life is to trust in, rely on, and commit to his death, burial, and resurrection.

You only told me a part of the story. You only told me what I wanted to hear. You made me feel good about myself and secure in my sin. When I stand before the judgment seat of God will you be there to help me? Will you be there to explain that you only wanted to build me up?
