Introduction

Psalm 119:18 KJV 1900
Open thou mine eyes, That I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
Remember we are over the day doing a series seeking to answer three questions:
Who is the messenger?
Unexpected
Unqualified
Unashamed
What is the messengers responsibility?
Pray
Give
Go
What is the messengers response?
We discussed what the mission/calling is and now we want to discuss we do it.
Transition
One Word that describes Jesus — Intentional
John 1 — Intentional about starting his group of disciples (Multiple disciples join the ministry)
John 2 — Intentional about telling the servants what to do (Wedding at Cana)
John 3 — Intentional about telling him he must be born again (Nicodemus)
Central Idea: We must be like Jesus in making intentional decisions as we seek to accomplish the great commission of Christ.
Interrogative Question: Are you intentional about decisions when seeking to accomplish the God given Great Commission?
Transition: So, we are going to see how Jesus was intentional in his decision making throughout this encounter with the woman at the well…

Decision #1: GO!

John 4:4 KJV 1900
And he must needs go through Samaria.
Background: One Nation, Spilt, Northern Kingdom, Assyrians, 2 Kings 17.
The Assyrians took over sent the Israelites out to various other places throughout the conquered lands of the Assyrians. Then the Assyrians transplanted people from those other conquered lands into the northern kingdom where they brought along their own religions and gods.
They then started to intermarry with the Israelites that were left there which led to the Samaritans (or “half-breeds”)

Decision #2: SPEAK!

John 4:7 KJV 1900
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

Who will speak?

Decision #3: REVEAL or CONCEAL!

John 4:26 KJV 1900
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
Who will conceal their faith?
Who will reveal their faith?
All these intentional decisions cumulate into two major events:
First: John 4:28 “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city,”
Second: John 4:39–42 “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”

Conclusion

So, right you may be thinking about a “woman at the well” type person. Or maybe this week you may come to a conversation where you quickly realize that this is a “woman at the well” moment.
The choice is up to you do you make intentional decision like Jesus or not?
The choice is up too you!
