Maybe Today

Welcome

Opening prayer

Luke 21:25-35

25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.

26 People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

27 At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

29 He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees.

30 When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.

31 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.

32 “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.

Apostels Creed

‌I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

is seated at the right hand the Father

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

‌I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Maybe Today

Don’t we all have things that we say will happen one of these days. And in our daily lives we always try to prepare for what could happen. We want to set our selves up for success. But what do we do in our spiritual life to be successful? When we are doing our Jobs we do everything possible to make the best result. To raise the best crop for the best harvest in our fields, to produce the most widgets to meet our quota to be their when we are called upon to service our customers. But do we have the same drive when building a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. Just in our daily Jobs and relationships their is a time limit to succeed. in our daily jobs we are limited by schedules and or weather. But normally we have guidelines to follow as to when things need to be accomplished. But when it comes to the Lord we do not know what that dead line is. We do not know if we will die tomorrow or even “Maybe Today”. So what are we waiting on. Knowing that “Maybe Today” could be the day we are going to meet our maker are we prepared. Have we asked for forgiveness, Have we accepted Jesus as our lord and savior? You see there is no other way to prepare for this meeting. So we need to start today to do the work it takes to be in a place to ask Jesus for forgiveness and ask him into our heart as our lord and savior. Where do we start? first and foremost is in prayer. Go to him and ask for guidance ask him to reveal himself to you. When you begin to want to know him better he will be faithful to you. He will show you what you need to do to become closer to him. You see as I look around the church I see many different people with many different paths to meet Jesus. I bet no ones story is exactly the same. I was watching Andy Griffith one day and Opey asked Andy when Jesus was coming back and Andy said we did not know that’s why we pray everyday so we are ready when ever he comes back. Have you ever thought about that. you realize it Might Be Today. We have all heard the old saying live like your dying. But we never know when that might be so instead of doing all the fun things that we can in case we might dye today. We better do the things God ask us to do to prepare in case today is the day he returns. We need to prepare for the day we meet our maker because we never know when that day will be it just “Maybe Today”.

Amen
