Stats-
From NextDoor, they surveyed a small amount of people (2000 ppl over 2 days from 104,000 neighborhoods in the U.S.) and 97% said that knowing their neighbors gives them peace of mind. 80% of neighbors would be willing to feed or walk a neighbor’s pet, but only 1/3 of neighbors have actually asked they neighbor to do so. Same with housesitting, babysitting, carpooling, accepting a package.
• 80% of neighbors would be willing to feed or walk a neighbor’s pet, but only 1/3 of neighbors have actually asked they neighbor to do so. Same with housesitting, babysitting, carpooling, accepting a package.
• According to a new survey by Ownerly, which found 26% of respondents 39 years old or younger don’t know any of their neighbors by name. Those numbers steadily drop by every age group: 20% of 40-somethings, 11% of 50-somethings and only 6% of those aged 60 and above report they don’t know any neighbor by name.
• The share of Americans who spend a social evening with a neighbor at least several times per month has declined from 44% in 1974 to 28% in 2022.

Passages

Mark 12:28-31 28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
