Introduction
Last week we looked at how God ordained institutions are under attack.
We see how born again believers are walking in a spiritual battle daily.
Let’s not become complaisant in the journey.
One of the enemies greatest tools is to wear down the believer.
We will do the things of the church.
But we can easily become compliant when the enemy pushes against us.
Others don’t see this happening because it is a personal surrender that is happening within our own heart.
Yet on the outside we are going through the motions of the Christian life.
Ephesians 6 gives us the battle armor.
Let me say this just because we put on the uniform doesn’t mean we are playing the game.
Teams have different strings of players.
If we happen to be on the 3rd or 4th string it is easy just to wear the uniform but not be ready to play.
In Christianity there is no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th string.
We are alway on the first team.
Sometimes it is easy to suit up but not be ready to play.
Read the passage
Our attention for today is on two things
First - truth
Second - prayer
These are the two key components in this battle.
We must hid God’s word (truth) in our hearts.
We must remain vigilant (watchful) through prayer.
Spiritual warfare and how to win.
We are suited up in our uniform (Eph. 6).
We step into the battle (daily).
Step 1 - Daily we submit our self to God (James 4:7).
Now Satan will tremble at the name of Jesus.
He want role over and play dead.
We will continue to be faced with challenges and temptations.
It will be a slow fade from who we are in Christ.
Satan wants to make us think there are greater things for us than what God has given us.
Step 2 - We must constantly remind ourselves we are God’s children.
1 John 4:4 KJV (WS)
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
We are already equipped to handle what ever comes our way.
When we remind ourselves we are God’s child we are infused with hope and confidence.
This is not a journey we are walking alone.
We are resting in God’s power not our own power.
Step 3 - Know we are secure in God!
Isaiah 54:17 KJV (WS)
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.
Step 4 - We are not survivors in this battle we are victors in Christ.
Romans 8:37 KJV (WS)
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Sometimes we think we are the only ones in this journey.
Sometimes we think I can’t overcome.
Sometimes we think I can’t take it anymore.
This verse reminds us because of Jesus love for us we can endure all things.
Why?
Jesus endured the cross so we could have this salvation.
Satan can’t take that away.
In Christ love we develop a resilient faith and strength.
Our wavering faith begins to strengthen.
Our courage begins to rise to level we have never experienced.
Look at Joshua.
Step 5 - We begin to realize it is not our might and spirit that we are fighting with.
Zechariah 4:6 (KJV (WS))
This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Step 6 - The enemy will tremble and flee from you.
Deuteronomy 28:7 KJV (WS)
The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
Step 6 - Claim victory in Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV (WS)
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
