Blessed is the man

That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor standeth in the way of sinners,

Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

This is a didactic psalm, we do not know the author for sure
Similiar to Prov 4:14
Happy man is contrasted with the ungodly
If you want to follow along with all the ungodly, you will get hurt
The ungodly will give you foolish council
Their advice is wrong and will get you in trouble
We need counsel from time to time
Figure out what people have an expertise in
Figure out who has training in what skill
Having counselors can be a good thing
sometimes she can see things you can’t see

But his delight is in the law of the LORD;

And in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Whatever men may say, the Bible is always right.
If we stand on the law, we are in the right place.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,

That bringeth forth his fruit in his season;

His leaf also shall not wither;

And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Amazing things come to those who delight in the Lord
They can withstand the pressure

The ungodly are not so:

But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

the sinful people will blow away, there is no strength
there is no long lasting and positive effect

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,

Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

there will be no glory in the judgment
no help in the judgment

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous:

But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Why do the heathen rage,

And the people imagine a vain thing?

Psalm 2 shows us it is foolish to work against God and it is foolish to Work against God’s Son.
Vs 1-6 the nations cannot stop God’s plan for his son
they will pay a price when they do
He allows nations to work against him and his people for a time but ultimately he brings them into judgment

A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.

David is in a situation of grief and turmoil
judging by the content of the Psalm and the heading
David probably wrote this when the city of Jerusalem had been taken by Absolom
This psalm is a plea for God to help
Sela means rest
Imagine if a son grew up to rebel against you to take everything you have and get you killed
David really loved his son Absolom
David was forced out of his home along the way
Both Absolom and Temar were considered to be good looking
Maacah was the mother of these two
2 Samuel 3:3
Maacah was a pagan woman
2 Samuel 13:1 ; 14:25
there can be humble good looking people who serve God faithfully
It made Absalom an arrogant individual
