Remember Christ’s Service

The love of Jesus for his disciples was demonstrated in his service as their Master.

The Lord’s Table reminds us that the greatness of our Lord is displayed in the way he humbled himself to serve us!

The Lord’s Table calls us to serve one another out of Love for Christ!

Remember Christ’s Sacrifice

Luke 22:19 NASB95

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

His body was broken and given for us.

The Lord’s Table reminds us of the suffering of Jesus on our behalf, that we might might live.

The prophet Isaiah foresaw the extreme suffering that the Son of Man would go through.

Isaiah 52:14 “Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form more than the sons of men.”

Isaiah 53:3–12 NKJV

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.

Remember You are Sanctified by Christ’s Blood

Luke 22:20 NASB95

And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

We are redeemed (purchased and bought back) by the blood.

1 Peter 1:17–19 NKJV

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

We are cleansed by the blood.

1 John 1:7 NKJV

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

We are sanctified by the blood.

Hebrews 13:12 NKJV

Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

The Lord’s table reminds us Who we belong to.
