Abrahamic Promise: The Spiritual Seed Aspect (Lesson 38) - This is a short lesson to have a quiz given after this lesson (12/17/24)

Introduction:

The fulfillment of the promise to Abraham, “in thy seed shall all nations be blessed,” (Gen22:18). It is plainly presented in the Messianic Period. (see Mt1:1, 17, 18-25, Lk1:26-34, 44-55, 67-80)

Aim:

To show that through the birth of Jesus the promise to Abraham regarding the spiritual seed is fulfilled.
To also take note that the pronouncement by Gabriel and the preaching of Peter affirm and confirm the Old Testament History and Prophesy of the Spiritual seed promise.

Outline:

* The pronouncement by Gabriel (Lk1:26-33)
* Note Isa7:14, 2Sam7:11-16. Isa9:6-7 (summarize them)
Isaiah 7:14 (NASB95)
14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.
2 Samuel 7:11–16 (NASB95)
11 even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The Lord also declares to you that the Lord will make a house for you. 12 “When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 “He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 “I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, 15 but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”
Isaiah 9:6–7 (NASB95)
6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
The preaching by Peter (Act2:22-42)
The proposition (vv.22-24)
The proof (vv.25-32)
This shows Davids prophetic testimony (vv.25-28) and you can couple that with (Ps16)
You can read Peter’s inspired interpretation (vv.29-32) and look at (2Sam7:12)
You can see the power (v.32)
And, you can see the conclusion drawn (vv.33-36)
Note: Jesus is the crucified, resurrected, reigning king on David’s eternal throne.

Conclusion:

God has fulfilled the things promised through Jesus Christ that was recorded for us in the Old Testament. The law, the Psalms and the Prophets. (see Lk24:37, 44-47)
In Christ Jesus the following is revealed, realized (see Gal3:16, 4:4; Mt1:1ff, Rom1:4)
The Seed of woman protected through the ages
The Seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
The Seed of David was Jesus of Nazareth
In Jesus, David’s seed, the kingdom, the throne are eternally established (see Act2:33; Heb1:1-4)
In Jesus, the promised not proven spiritual seed that was eternally purpose to be a blessing to all men. God’s plan of redemption is found in no other person except Jesus (see Act4:12)
This ends this section of the class; After this is presented have the quiz handed out to the men. Use essay questions, maybe only 2 of them.
